Do Women’s Bodies Change As They Age?
Generally, the amount of fat you carry increases as you age, while muscle mass, lean tissue, and bone mineral density decrease.
Over time, natural fluid loss in your cells alters the tissues and structures they form inside you. These changes, in turn, can cause visible changes to how your body looks and feels. That’s when we start thinking about collagen, spending less time in the sun, and drinking more of fresh water.
Our healthy aging is also tied to a modern technology of age-appropriate supplements and vitamins. Incorporating them into our healthy diet will only benefit our well-being. Personally, I am on a learning path every day of my life. That does not necessarily mean that others are so intensely involved in learning and reading and figuring out the supplements for their benefit.
Talking to your doctor will help to determine what basic and age-appropriate supplements and vitamins you need. However knowing a bit of information about things concerning your health are very beneficial for your own sake.
When you remain curious about the changes taking place in your body, learn the why’s and how’s, talk to your doctor, read literature available in libraries and online – you become more empowered by all this avalanche of knowledge.
This massive learning only helps you to make more educated and appropriate decisions. Choosing age-appropriate supplements and vitamins becomes easier because you know more.
Vitamins Packed with Age-Fighting Power
The lesson I learn again and again is that action against aging can be taken NOW to prevent more serious and deeper damage to our health and ultimately joy of living. When we care about our bodies, we make healthier choices in food, add more activities like walking and yoga to our daily routine, and connect to our peers, family, friends.
Take a look to learn How to Hold the Edge. Nope, it’s not about Yoga. It’s on your mental power and insight.

Is L-Theanine Good for Healthy Aging?
L-Theanine is a long word, and kinda scary. But this powerful compound is actually found in TEA! It was identified in tea by Japanese scientists in 1949. While tea is the most common dietary source for L-Theanine, this compound is also found in some types of mushrooms. It is an amino acid that is beneficial for stress control. A calming effect of L-Theanine on heart rate are thought to be related to calming dow the sympathetic system.
L-Theanine promotes relaxation and facilitates sleep by contributing to a number of changes in the brain. L-Theanine elevates levels of GABA, as well as serotonin and dopamine. These chemicals are known as neurotransmitters, and they work in the brain to regulate emotions, mood, concentration, alertness, and sleep, as well as appetite, energy, and other cognitive skills.
Increasing levels of these calming brain chemicals – serotonin and dopamine – promotes relaxation and can help with sleep.
When you learn a few more things about a supplement hiding in a long unfamiliar word, it becomes closer to home, doesn’t it?

I don’t want to sound selfish, but I am hoping to win this for myself, its been along time since I have been able to afford vitamins.
Dorothy,
It is NOT selfish at all!
You do need and deserve the quality supplements in your life.
I will keep some of these for me and give some of them to my mom!
I am looking for B vitamins for energy!
I would like these vitamins for myself and also for my daughter.
I am interested in • Melatonin and also• DHEA. I would like to try these and read more about them.
Maryann,
I am testing DHEA now. Never have had it before. Also I’ve done my research on this supplement and the sources of it. Fascinating.
Would love to win for my family (my husband with joint issues & my 6 year old daughter with behavior issues)
Oh, I forgot to mention. This gift would be for me. Sometimes you’ve got to be good to yourself. 🙂
Kathleen,
You do deserve the best for yourself!
I do take B-12 everyday along with biotin. But I’m looking to see what other supplements I can add to my routine. The L-Theanine might be beneficial to me, because of high blood pressure and also peri-menopause symptoms. I’m also looking for ways to make sure that I get adequate vitamins and minerals. I know the saying “you are what you eat” and try to serve healthy meals to my family. I’m also interested in aging well. 🙂 That’s a great motivator especially being a mom to teenagers. That’ll age you faster than anything..hahah.. 😀
