As menopause skin can become thin and dry or easily dehydrated, hyaluronic acid benefits could play a key role in such skin’s rehydration. Would you like to discover some truly magical Hyaluronic Acid benefits for women in menopause?
Hyaluronic acid, usually abbreviated as HA, is part of the protective extracellular matrix (ECM) that serves as one of the skin’s barriers to protect the body from all kinds of pathogens and maintain an optimal internal temperature and hydration.

This valuable HA molecule looks like a clear and sugary substance and belongs to glycosaminoglycan (GAG) group of ingredients. The ability to bind to water inside the body makes hyaluronic acid a hero of its own.
FUN FACT: One gram of Hyaluronic Acid holds approximately six liters of water!
A more precise description for this unique natural body material that I find fascinating.
Hyaluronic acid (HA), also referred to as hyaluronan, is a large polysaccharide; i.e., a carbohydrate such as a starch, cellulose or glycogen consisting of many (“poly”) sugar molecules bonded together—in some cases, several thousands of them. (Ref. 1)
Hyaluronic acid is especially abundant in connective tissue, but also present in nervous tissue and epithelia.
Another valuable quality of the HA is that it is non-irritating and safe for use for all skin types. When applying skin care products with this ingredient, it absorbs really quickly and goes really well with other skin care products in women’s regimen.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the million magic ingredients that our body produces naturally. Thus to know more about this important player in our well-being seems only natural and pro-active for a better well-being.
Major Hyaluronic Acid Benefits for Women
Hyaluronic acid has a truly magnificent role in our body. Well, it helps to maintain moisture levels in the skin. Thus, it also supports collagen production. And when the collagen is ample in our body, you will look and feel younger.
Our skin contains 50% of the entire Hyaluronic Acid storage within the body. With aging, smoking, photo damage and some diseases, HA levels are drastically reduced. Hence the side effects like sagging skin, wrinkles, bags and dark patches under the eyes, and fine lines.

Top three benefits of the Hyaluronic Acid in our bodies.
As hyaluronic acid plays an important role within the entire body, first, it is useful to understand these connections.
– Moisturizing and Plumping effect for the entire skin
– Serves as a Lubricant for joints – HA cushions and lubricates them, preventing and alleviating joint pain.
– Shapes and holds in place the human eyeballs – you’ve probably never thought of it, have you? But it is one of the top roles of the Hyaluronic Acid in the human body.
A 2014 double-blind clinical trial published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology2 demonstrated that Hyaluronic Acid use decreased the wrinkle volume and their depth, and decreased skin sagging of the face contours. In addition, it reported an increase in volume in the cheek areas and lip plumpness.
The study demonstrated the positive filling effect of [hyaluronic acid] in decreasing the clinical signs of skin aging and in improving the face volumes.2

What Affects the Levels of Hyaluronic Acid in Our Skin
Age is not the number one reason why Hyaluronic Acid diminishes in the body. The natural effects of UV radioactive radiation, alcohol, tobacco, unhealthy lifestyle habits are some of the most reasons with detrimental effects. Without doubt, one of such effects is the loss of the precious storages of hyaluronic acid in the body.
And the second huge reason that affects the production of HA in our body is the biological aging. With the onset of the peri- and menopause, each woman should be aware of the fact that the lack of the hormones like estrogen will wreak havoc on all bodily functions, including the collagen and hyaluronic acid productions. Thus preparation begins with self-education and awareness.
Skin Care Products That Include Hyaluronic Acid
Formulation with HA include serums, lotions, creams, facial sheet masks. Why a woman needs hyaluronic acid in her skin care? Because all these products are geared to supply that plump and youthful appearance to our skin. In addition, Hyaluronic Acid supports production of collagen.
HA can bind to collagen on one side and water on the other, which traps water in the skin and hydrates it.
Most importantly, a quality skin care product with Hyaluronic Acid for women will improve the texture of her skin and prolong its vitality and health. Good looks are a side effect and a beautiful benefit from the regular use of this ingenious product.
Use of hyaluronic acid is ok if you go outside in the sun. Just remember to use and SPF lotion over your face, hands, and body to protect for the UV rays. But the sun does not provoke or increase sensitivities to HA. Things do happen like individual allergic reactions to skin care products or to a single skin-care ingredient. You need to be aware of this fact any time you use a new product on the skin. Stop the use of the product and visit your dermatologist asap.

That is why adding foods rich in estrogen and natural supplementation can dramatically improve women’s looks during peri-, menopause and post menopause.

– Natural aging due to diminished levels of HA and estrogen in women
However the bags under eyes can be lifted and even smoothed out. Using a powerful combination of products with hyaluronic acid and a daily dose of skin lifting and smoothing techniques, a woman could become her own sculptress of her facial skin.

Product Examples of Hyaluronic Serums, Creams, Ampoules and Face Masks
There are a lot of products of Hyaluronic Acid on the market for women. I love this ingredient and use it regularly. It really goes nice on the skin, then I layer my face and neck with the moisturizer for the day time and night cream before going to bed.
It is OK to wear hyaluronic serum under your SPF skin care.
Here are some of the examples of the topical hyaluronic acid products you may enjoy as well.
You will find hyaluronic acid popular ingredient in different skin care product categories: skin cleansers, moisturizers, serums, face masks, eye creams, and lip treatments. Instead of having dermal fillers, we could use different skin care products with HA that will fullness and plumpness to our skin.

Is Hyaluronic Acid for Dry or Oily Skin?
In fact, both dry and oily skin types can benefit from hyaluronic acid skin care products. Being non-comedogenic, i.e., doesn’t clog pores, this unique ingredient keeps the skin hydrated during the day.
Hyaluronic Acid Topical Creams for Hands
I absolutely adore a trend in recent years to support skin health on women’s hands. As we age, skin elasticity goes down. In perimenopause and menopause, women experience the effects of dry skin more frequently. Certain foods, oral supplements, and skincare products with key ingredients could contribute to adequate skin hydration.
One of my favorite topical products for hand care is an intensive skin cream with rose Argan oil extracts from Grown Alchemist. A non-greasy, quick-absorbing formula, this product is a powerful relief from dry skin on your hands. Argan oil, vitamin E and hyaluronic acid nourish the dry skin, protecting blood vessels and deep skin layers. Check out this product .
Just like brushing teeth every day, you can see more clearly how potent and effective hyaluronic acid benefits for women are! I am excited to share and to know that each one of us can live her life beautifully while enjoying the greatest effects of self-education and applying them to a daily living.
Eye Drops with Hyaluronic Acid
For dry eyes, they even have hyaluronic acid supplements and lubricant eye drops. One of the effective products for the eyes is HylaTears. One of the ingredients in the formulation is hyaluronate, another word for hyaluronic acid. Check out the product .

I need to look for better products that have hyaluronic acid. I just checked the ingredients on my products and they have some not so good ingredients. I really need to change my options and get the products that are non-toxic to the skin. Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us.

This is a totally mind blowing discovery for me about hyaluronic acid. I did not know about this ingredient. I am always learning something from you. Thank you!
I really need to find a quality product with HA. What you’ve shared in this post is totally new to me. And my skin needs more moisturizing ingredients to add plumpness to it.
I use a toner that has HA in it. Ever since I have been using it my skin feels so much smoother, I love it!
I really have never heard of Hyaluronic acid before, so thank you for all this information! It’s so important to know how to take care of yourself especially when your body is changing.
Hyaluronic acid… I have heard the words bandied around quite a lot lately. I think that anyone in the throws of the menopause may well just be dreaming of a game changer like this one.
WOW, HYALURONIC ACID IS THE GAME CHANGER WHEN IT COMES TO THE MENOPAUSE.
I use hyaluronic acid weekly! I’ve seen such a great improvement! Thank you for all the info!
My skin absolutely loves hyaluronic acid and I’m always looking for ones to true. It’s good to know that there are benefits for women of all ages x
Your post has given me some insightful tips and has definitely piqued my interest in incorporating hyaluronic acid into my skincare routine.
I take a Hyaluronic Acid supplement, for the skin and joint benefits. I didn’t realize that it is also super beneficial to my eyes. This was a great read.
Amy,
Hyaluronic Acid is one of the amazing substances within our own bodies. Adding skin care products to your routine, especially when the skin is dry and dehydrated, could help!
My orthapedic dr recommended gel shots for my knees and my hateful insurance denied me. After researching I discovered hyaluronic acid. Its been a wonder for my knees. Been taking it for 2 years now. I am in so much pain that honestly I thought of dying daily and after 3 weeks of taking hyaluronic acid the horrible pain was gone. My kneeds were still bad because they are bone on bone but at least its now at a level I can live with.
Madonna,
So great to hear such success stories like yours!
Bravo, GRL!
I love how it works on my skin and how well it affects it. I use several products with it and frankly I am absolutely sure it is a great choice to keep your skin healthy and youthful
Lyosha,
So happy to hear you are a user of the products with HA!
Keep doing the right thing for your skin health!
So every time I see the words Hyaluronic acid, I have stuck in my head that TV commercial when Eva Longoria sounds out the skincare ingredient apparently everyone is searching for, Hy-a-lu-ron-ic Acid!
But to be honest I had no idea how many benefits it offered people, especially women in menopause deal with various skin issues throughout their body!
Eric,
It’s so funny that you remember that commercial with Eva advertising the Revitalift! Ha ha ha!
But it worked – you remember the name of the key ingredient – HYALURONIC Acid!
Thank you for your comment, it made my day.
I had no idea. I’m getting to that age so I guess I will need to work on this.
Renee,
Every age you are enjoying – add some fun of exploring what works for your skin. You are worthy it all.
Wow this is really great and very informative post, I always love reading post specially if it’s about skincare
Rose Ann,
Thank you for your feedback.
It empowers me to provide more information that shall empower You!
This is the first time I hear about hyaluronic acid, this is amazing and very helpful, THANK YOU SO MUCH…
So happy to be of help to support your self-empowerment with things like Hyaluronic Acid! he he, you are on your way to a new experience.
Didn’t know Hyaluronic Acid has some benefits for menopausal women. This is very interesting and worth trying.
Nadalie,
Yes, Hyaluronic Acid is one of the power ingredients to use for skin health and beauty.
Seriously, I need something. The dark circles and bags under my eyes are just not appealing.
Rosey,
As an esthetician, take a look at these factors in your lifestyle. You may be needing:
– more sleep
– less stress
– more physical exercise during the day
Though the skin under the eye area really thins out during menopause, and it begins years earlier, in our 30s, you can dramatically improve your black circles by using the above 3 ingredients, plus adding hydration/moisturization during the day, feeding night cream during the night.
The power ingredients to fight dark circles I’d mention are these:
– Vitamin C in your skin care (check out other ingredients for them being non-toxic!). This vitamin is a precursor of collagen production. It means collagen needs the vitamin C to be generated in the body/skin.
Check my detailed post on it here ==> https://celebratewomantoday.com/skin-benefits-of-powdered-vitamin-c/
– Vitamin K is not just a clotting agent! It also stops the accumulation of calcium in the elastin within the skin!!! Instead, vitamin K direct calcium to the bones, rather than arterial walls. With a good supply of vitamin K, the skin will enjoy more skin elasticity and less wrinkles.
My detailed post on vitamin K is here ==> https://celebratewomantoday.com/vitamin-k-benefits-food-sources/
I was not aware of Hyaluronic acid. I am sure it has benefits and I am going to suggest my wife to find skin products in India that contain Hyaluronic acid.
Ambuj,
Thank you for your comment, friend.
Yes, your wife and daughter could benefit from regular use of HA. And you can try it, too! Your skin would thank you.
This is all really great to know. I know a few ladies who have gone through menopause and it’s no fun.
Kathy,
Menopause side-effects could be brutal for some women. It is vital to begin your self-care as early in life as you can.
However, there are powerful ways to improve your life during menopause by enriching your personal self with the facts about skin health and body health as well.
We are here to support you, GRL!
I’ve heard hyaluronic acid as an ingredient in skincare, but honestly had no idea what it did for us. So enlightening–thank you for breaking it down and sharing the benefits of it. Now to get some….
Mary Ann,
So happy that this post served you useful information. The more we know, the better self-care we can offer to ourselves.
Every time I hear about HA, it’s nothing but good things and how beneficial it is for skin. This was so interesting to read! Thank you for share this!
Whitney,
Yes, HA is a powerful moisturizer and a good skin “plumper,” as it helps the skin to maintain an optimal water balance. And where’s well-hydrated skin, there’s health and beauty.
Hello! Thank you for this really important information, I’ve heard that hyaluron is made from rooster combs. I am vegan and do not want to support such products. I think the idea of using rooster combs to treat my face is creepy. I have also heard that it is said to be counterproductive as the body’s own production decreases when hyaluronic acid is used.
Ethan,
There are many ways to produce Hyaluronic Acid (HA) used for skin care products. A huge majority of skin care brands use the plant-based sources of HA! And these plant-based sources come from microbial fermentation.
I never use animal-based products in my life, including skin and hair care products.
As far as the second part of your comment that HA is produced from rooster combs, I am not a fan of any animal products myself. And it is not counterproductive to use HA in the skin care regimen! Hyaluronic Acid decreases as we age. However, it does not stop producing inside our body. For those with dry skin and during drying seasons, skin could and should use the help of quality skin care to support its vitality and health.
Did I hear it right? It will help you keep young. Well, better tell my pretty wifey about this.
He, he, Ramil,
Yep, those with dry skin especially would benefit tremendously!
Really beautiful article and a great resource thanks for sharing it
Thank you, Brooke,
Happy it may help you in any way.
Finding proper skin care is very difficult. Thanks for providing these suggestions. I’ve heard that it’s very essential to utilize products containing retinol while you are aging. I believe I need to discover the perfect brand for me.
Arianna,
Yes, retinol is part of a good skin care regimen.
Don’t think you ned to wait until 50 to begin using retinols! You can successfully can start utilizing retinoid therapy in your 20s. The earlier, the more anti-aging effect you’ll gain.
Here’s my detailed post explaining different types of retinoids ==>
https://celebratewomantoday.com/anti-aging-retinoid-therapy-healthy-plump-skin/
I had no idea that hyaluronic acid helps keep the human eyeball in place. That’s very interesting! I’ve been using it in capsules for my back pain for years and it works great. I also use skincare products that contain hyaluronic acid. I love it!
Yanitza,
Thank you know about the benefits of Hyaluronic acid first-hand!
Awesome to hear a positive feedback.
That mermaid elixir sounds tempting. I really need to relax these days, and what better way than to give my skin a treat.
Hyaluronic Acid is one of the unique ingredients any woman could take advantage of.
Knowing the principles of its use, the possibilities are of joy for skin and well-being.
They have been mentioning Hyaluronic Acid on the commercials for skin care products here in Japan recently. Now I read this blog post, I want to try it. And wow, never knew that Hyaluronic Acid has six litres of water in it.
Amy,
Look for clean ingredients in your hyaluronic acid (HA) product.
Either buy pure HA skin care product, or look for such ingredients as vitamins C, E incorporated with it.
BEWARE of different add-ons and preservatives! They can be toxic and collect in your bodily tissues which is not good for the health.
NB: 1 gram of Hyaluronic Acid can HOLD 6 liters of water! It does NOT HAVE this amount of water in it!
Enjoy learning and exploring the skin care products that can make a huge difference how your skin will feel and look throughout your life.
Honestly I had no idea that hyaluronic acid had these benefits! MUST check these products out for sure.
Rachel,
Just a few years ago, it was really hard to find a decent, clean and pleasant hyaluronic acid skin care product.
Today, there are a lot of brands that offer us, women, incredible quality products.
Just watch the Ingredients list before buying anything. Look for any toxic ingredients and preservers, color and perfume type ingredients that often are artificial. You don’t want it to interfere with your skin function.
Hyaluronic Acid is so great for our skin! I love how it makes mine feel. I never think to add it to my hands, but they need it too! Thanks for the idea. Brilliant!
Aarika,
Little bit helps, especially when we use some leftover product for our face on our hands.
Hyaluronic acid helps the skin maintain moisture and helps the tissue regeneration process involved in healing wounds. I always used this serum for my skin.
Yudith,
This acid does wonders, especially when I need to rehydrate my skin. Wound healing is a precious property of HA.
I’ve never heard of HJyaluronic Acid before now! Wow!!! I can’t wait to try it out, thank you so much for the info, it is great!
The key here is to understand how this ingredients works and why it’s important for your life.
Then, design your skin care routine!

I have used hyaluronic acid for years and I have been compliments on my skin
Rosanne,
So great to hear from a dedicated user!
This is a great article. Sounds like something I should look into for sensitive skin.

What I like about Hyaluronic Acid is that is is so gentle on sensitive skin. It truly holds onto the moisture in the epidermis, allowing the skin to function and produce the needed results.
Thank you for sharing this great products. I did not realize all these great benefits of using this. I love that it will not irritate our skin. I will be giving this a try soon. Thank you so much for sharing
Linda,
When I first started with Hyaluronic Acid, I was even afraid to go into the subject. How can “acid” be non-irritant to the skin?
Like in anything else, researching and learning about the “unknown” facts and factors prove to be exceptionally beneficial.
I have heard amazing things about it..from reducing wrinkles and fine lines to scars.. I would love to see it work in action!
Mya,
The reason we experience all these wonderful benefits from the use of Hyaluronic Acid is due to its ability to hold on to water and by attracting the moisture from the air.
Water is the first key for our skin to be well, look bright and protect us from pathogens.
I had zero idea about HA Acid. Leave aside it’s benefits. It had been really amazing read for me.
Wow.. I never knew that is what hyalunoric acid is about. I’ve heard about it but I haven’t dig too much about it.
Hyaluronic Acid is a truly magical ingredient that is incorporated into so many skin products and supplements.
It is super important for our entire body and its organs.
I’ve heard about the benefits for skin but I didn’t know about its effect on under eye bags.
Jan,
Something to learn every day. Glad you’ve discovered one more new thing for yourself.
Thank you so much! I wasnt aware of so many benefits of Hyaluronic acid (HA) and its applications!
All of these facts are so interesting. I love finding out about new products which could help me in so many ways.
Awesome, Laurie!
The more we know, the better we take care or our well-being.
I didn’t know that our body produced this naturally, or all the amazing benefits, thank you for sharing!
Megan,
Glad you learned something.
Hyaluronic Acid is a huge game changer in skin maintenance. I’ve been using it forever.
My dermatologist recommends clean skin care with HA to teenagers and young adults.
The earlier we begin an informative skin care routine, the longer our skin will be the center of our joy.
I have put this off for too long now. It is time to up my skincare routine. I put it off because I didn’t know where to go and what to purchase.
I am looking into a few of your links.
Thanks
Vickie,
I am happy to support you, GRL!
It sounds like a product worth trying. My skin has become so dry over the last few years.
Leela,
The sooner you start adding foods and skin care products that support collagen production and help to keep moisture inside your skin, the longer you will be enjoying your beautiful skin.
I recently started using a hyaluronic serum on my face and it’s made a huge difference in the way my skin looks and feels. I wasn’t aware of all the benefits until reading this!
Lisa,
It is a super cool skin care tool to keep our skin plump no matter what.
I add Hyaluronic Acid serum to my skin twice a day. It works wonders to the skin!!!
Jay,
Ditto to that! Twice a day is a great way to keep the moisture in and our skin happy.
Thanks for sharing knowlegde,I havent heard about HA before,it’s nice to know about this.
It is even nicer to incorporate HA into daily life. Great when it works with your routine and needs.
Wow amazing info! I never try hyaluronic acid in my face now definitely gonna try! Thanks
Hyaluronic acid is a very gentle way to keep our skin moisturized without any compromise of using other skin care products on top of it.
I have hear about HA before but I never knew how vital it is to our skin youthful complexion. Thanks for the knowlegde.
Rose,
I am happy if it helped you!
Interesting, thank you for sharing!
This is how we learn and improve our well-being.
I have never heard of hyaluronic acid before sounds like some interring stuff I will have to check it out.
Bella,
Hyaluronic Acid is one of the top must-haves for any woman during any period of her life.
Thanks for confirming what I already knew. Hyaluronic acid helps skin!
Lavern,
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a truly magical ingredient that is vital for our organs, skin included.
HA is very prevalent in our body, but its levels go down as we age.
I did not know that our bodies produce hyaluronic acid, but only in minimal amounts. I will have to go check on this. I don’t want to have saggy skin on my neck and arms. Better to act now than to go for expensive treatments later.
Eileen,
Our bodies produce plenty of hyaluronic acid to cover the needs and the functioniong of our organs and tissues and muscles.
But with age and the reasons I mentioned in the post, the production of HA diminishes.
Adding HA as a topical and internal supplement is powerful and can truly change how we age.
How interesting. I’ve never even heard of Hyaluronic Acid before. Thanks for sharing this info. Looks like something all of us “women” can benefit from, especially as we age. My skin is definitely not as nice as it once was. 🙂
Margaret,
Hyaluronic Acid is a definite must-have in any woman’s skin care routine. It goes nicely under any makeup or other skin care product.
I love hyaluronic acid in my skincare. It makes my skin look and feel fantastic x
Laura,
So great to hear you are a fan and active user of this “magic” daily!
I’ve heard about the benefits of hyaluronic acid. Thanks for reminding me about all this info. I need to implement this into my skincare ASAP!
I use a hyaluronic acid serum from Deciem – it’s not absurdly expensive and is light. Been using it for a year now and it’s done wonders for me!
I never thought it has such a high importance. It makes me understand how every vitamin and mineral our body needs is vital. This is a very good post, really informative.
Thank you, Ruth,
Yes, the more we know, the better choices we make in life and in our skin care routine as well.
I actually think hyaluronic acid IS a part of my skin care regime! I am feeling PRETTY GOOD about myself right now, ha ha ha! I am because I am not super literate when it comes to beauty and such! 😉
GiGi,
So great to hear about it!
Keep Hyaluronic Acid in your routine.
May I say this: Give yourself a rest from using the product every couple of months. I take a week. Then, I switch to a different brand of HA to keep the benefits improve.
I have just stumbled across the term “Hyaluronic Acid” and wanted to see what the fuzz is all about.. luckily I have found your post! Will now definitely get a serum to try the benefits! 🙂
JoyDellaVita,
Hyaluronic Acid is one of the least known ingredients that women favor. When we know more, we benefit more!
I’ve seen some very real results from adding Hyaluronic Acid to my beauty routine!
Kelly,
It is superb that you have results to show off and live by. Thank you for sharing.
Personal experiences do encourage other women to explore the subject matter deeper.
I love Hyaluronic Acid and try to apply it topically several times a week. I use to use the supplements from NEOCELL, but stopped. They are amazing. Great blog post!
Sarah,
Today, there are quite a few quality skin care products with hyaluronic acid. I like to use the ones fortified with vitamin C and E to get the best of both worlds: protection and healing for the skin.
There are some great benefits to using hyaluronic acid. I need to use some products with it in my skincare routine!
Erin,
The daily usage will prolong the looks of yours for sure, but what is even more important, the healthy skin and cellular lifecycles.
I really enjoyed reading this! I always wondered what hyaluronic acid was. I definitely need to add it to my skincare daily routine.
Myrah,
Yes, this is one of the simplest ways to keep our skin not only hydrated, but increase the ways we get collagen generated to keep the structure for our facial features and for our organs, too, when we take HA internally in addition to the topical applications.
This was a very informative read. I must say I didn’t even know what hyaluronic acid was. I’ll have to see if any of my skincare products have it.
Sherry,
I would recommend to go to a stand-alone product with Hyaluronic acid. Or to get an HA product with some other important actives. This is a very smooth and non-irritating ingredient that all of us need daily.
Good experimenting and seeing amazing results!
I like the benefits of this product. I need to try this to keep my skin young
Tara,
You will definitely see results from the regular use of Hyaluronic Acid.
I’ve heard so many great things about hyaluronic acid. I definitely need to switch up my routine!
Heather,
Just adding Hyaluronic Acid to your existing routine would do wonders.
The products I’ve mentioned in the post are some of the best based on the quality of the ingredients in them.
In addition, I only go after clean and non-toxic ingredients in the skin care.
