Mini Steamed Cakes With Matcha
These mini cakes with matcha green tea powder is easy and cooks in about 15-20 minutes including prep. I use my amazing ZOJIRUCHI Electric Skillet to steam these little puffy wonders. The possibilities are endless! You can make simple mini cakes that will taste like dinner rolls in 15 minutes. Or you can opt for some creative stuff with poppy seeds and cream and filling in the middle for a weekender or get-togethers. I’ll show you how to make these “fancy” using nothing, but dough and steamer.
I’ve added matcha green tea into these mini cakes to add some antioxidant power to the rolls. Matcha has some amazing benefits for our skin and overall energy during the day. Adding it to your meals and drinking green tea are just some of the ways to take advantage of these benefits.
If you have high fiber flour – use it to increase the value of each meal. Fiber is one the best ways to a healthy weight maintenance and good gut bacteria balance!

Enjoy these mini Matcha Cakes instead of dinner rolls!

- 7 oz pancake mix
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup milk or almond milk
- 3 Tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp Matcha (powdered green tea)
- Olive oil
- 1. Beat egg in a bowl and whip together with milk and sugar with a whisk.
- 2. Add pancake mix and Matcha and mix well.
- 3. Use olive oil for the inside walls of each ramekin. Pour the mixture into porcelain or glass ramekins up to 80% of the ramekin.
- 4. Place the ramekins into a steamer, cover with lid and let steam for 15 minutes after the water boiling has been reached.
- You can enjoy these mini cakes warm or cooled. Some prefer to spoon them from the ramekin!

I prefer to use matcha powder that is organic and has the potency of real green tea. Using a quality blend that is free of lead, pollutants, and heavy metals is the way to boost your total nutrition we offer to our bodies.
Here are some benefits you can enjoy by using Matcha Green Tea in your recipes.
Matcha is a concentrated green tea that uses the whole leaf power in the powder that it results in after processing. Rich in antioxidants like polyphenols, matcha is a great way to not only infuse your daily tea, but also to cook with! Add a spoon of match to your baking recipes, pastas, fresh raw salads and soups, muffins and and brownies, puddings and even guacamole! Yes, you can add this “magic” ingredient to bring more powerful antioxidant properties along with more energy to your daily activities.
Caffeine in matcha has a different side of a “kick” it gives to our bodies. Thanks to the natural substance in match called l-theanine, which induces relaxation without drowsiness, our bodies receive the quality energy that allows us to avoid all the jitters that can be experienced from too much of coffee.
