Would you agree that preventative care for your pets is your priority to have happy dogs and happy cats in the family? Taking small, yet very powerful steps towards your pet’s well-being is something you and I should be aware of and proactively involved in.
For the past few weeks, we were bringing to you friendly messages that highlighted simple and effective steps towards your pet’s health. Here they are as a helpful summary for every pet owner to remember and to implement.
Mealtime – Are You Feeding Your Pet Proper Nutrition? Check out some healthy cat food options you may pursue for your pt.
Food is something that we take for granted, especially when it comes to our pets. Like humans, our dogs and cats have a tendency to overeat. Like us, our fur babies have special dietary needs for every stage of their lives. You wouldn’t feed your 6-year-old baby food, would you? Why then feed the same kitty or puppy food your older cat or dog? For every season, there’s good food that is available in your favorite pet store.
Learn about your pet’s health and dietary needs from online sources and your vet, and be proactive in getting the right diet served to your furry friend.
Little Extras – Pet Exercise And Mental Stimulation Are Pet’s Friends
We know that any cat or dog would fall and do almost anything to receive that precious treat. To feed such treats in the mode of a regular food could become dangerous. It is a two-fold process.
First, treats are for occasional circumstances and should not serve as a substitute of a regular meal. Treats are rewards for certain behavior we are striving to instill in our pets.
Second, treats do not have all the nutrition of a full-fledged meal. Overfeeding our fur babies with treats could become detrimental not only to their behavior, but also to their health, as they may become deficient in some nutrients and even become overweight.
That brings us to a very important component in our relationship wit our dog or cat – importance of physical exercise for our pets. An interesting thing happens when our cats and dogs run around and play: they receive an enormous amount of physical as well as mental stimulation. And that is invaluable to their peaceful and healthy well-being.
Annual Vet Visits – Timely Detect Any Health Issue
You cannot underestimate your pet preventative care.
The healthier and happier your pets are, the longer lives they’d live and share with you, being your integral hero, and friend, and confidant in the situations that only they could “comprehend” and share with us.
Scheduling routine annual visit to your vet could actually save you a ton of money down the road. A vet can easily spot any deviations in your pet’s health and outline the course of action. All that is doable in small steps, and annual vet visit is one of them!
Our pets depend on us for every single need they have in their lives. If you took a furry friend on board with you to live and to enjoy – why not do it in a Get-Healthy-Happy way? Keep learning about and practicing things above and what we’ve been talking for the past month: food, exercise, vet visits. Our pets have similar needs as us. The difference is we are responsible for their healthy and happy lives. Without us, they would be helpless.

My fur kids are very important to me. We follow all of your recommendations. Ok, getting a cat to exercise is a bit of a challenge but we do watch what they eat and the vet knows us by name. I want to keep them healthy as long as possible.
