Q: What inspired you to develop the plot line for a book?

Courtney Cole: I can’t take credit for the idea… my editor Tessa had the original idea and she trusted me to bring her vision to life. From the very beginning, I knew that it wouldn’t be a satisfying Christmas story unless it had a really unique cast of characters. And so I immediately envisioned this zany set of unlikely friends. I had such a great time with them, and really, the entire book. It makes me want to drink hot chocolate after I stir it with a candy cane.

Q: What is your intent for the book: what kind of thoughts, feelings and emotions did you hope to generate in your readership?

Courtney Cole: I want those who read it to come away feeling like their heart has been wrapped in a red cashmere blanket trimmed in winter fur. I want it to remind readers how blessed we are for those who are close to us, and how the holidays are magical. I want you looking for mistletoe after you finish the last page.
