Show me a woman who doesn’t want a firmer, brighter, and more hydrated skin when she hits a 40+ age mark. There are a lot of things you can do to care for your skin at that stage of your life. Building your “magic tools box” for skin care could be super helpful in getting results with stubborn dark spots, uneven skin tone, or sudden skin redness.

Understanding Tranexamic Acid & Why It’s a Skin Hero After 40
Today, our Hero Ingredients for many of the skin’s troubles is Tranexamic Acid (TXA). Here’s a quick get-to-know-it guide for this super ingredient.
– Tranexamic Acid is known as a brightening ingredient, working on sunspots, melanoma, breakout marks.
– This acid does not have exfoliate functions like Alpha-Hydroxy (AHA) or Beta-Hydroxy (BHA) Acids.
– TXA is gentle enough for any skin type and can be used in serums, creams, lotions.
When you are looking for a powerful yet gentle skin-brightening ingredient, Tranexamic Acid could become your go-to supporter to help fade discoloration, reduce redness, and restore a smooth, even glow.
Unlike harsh treatments that can leave mature skin dry and irritated, TXA works by calming inflammation and slowing excess melanin production. What it means for you is that this acid being part of a skin formulation gently works on maintaining the youth of the skin. That’s where smooth texture and radiant skin come from!
Top 3 Benefits of Tranexamic Acid for Youthful Skin
As estrogen declines during peri- and menopause years, the skin can easily forsake its resilience and be prone to sunspots, melasma and uneven tone. Including products with Tranexamic Acid in them could become a game changer to reduce these skin damages and make a pathway to smoother complexion.
FYI: What’s more important, the clinical studies proved that tranexamic acid was much safer and as effective in treatment of melasma (hyperpigmentation) than hydroquinone and dexamethasone together (the ingredients used in dermatology against melasma)! Check out one of such studies HERE.
Look at the top of my favorite benefits this acid brings to the skin!
– Reduces inflammation by calming the skin. In fact, TXA prevents barrier breakdown and keeps skin strong and resilient.
– Improves Moisture Retention and Hydration. As TXA support natural ceramide production within the skin, this serves the necessary building blocks to seal in hydration and maintain a healthy skin barrier. It prevents the TransEpidermal Water Loss (TEWL)!
– Prevents Hyperpigmentation. Did you know that dark spots and uneven tone lead to skin’s barrier damage? Well, TXA is one of the most effective ingredients to work on the dark spots. This acid helps your skin to recover from damages that caused those spots and maintain an even complexion.
Stripping your skin from its natural protection elements like lipids, proteins, ceramides and good microflora can and will lead to irritation and sensitivities that can become chronic and lead to more serious skin damages.
Chronic inflammation of the skin can be prevented. Here are some effective ways!
– Know the ingredients and skincare products and you use and what they do to your skin
– Wear SPF protection over your skin year-round
– Address skin concerns in a timely manner with your dermatologist
– Empower yourself with the SKIN knowledge like Seasonal care, Effective Ingredients for different use, Hormonal Changes a woman goes through her life, Environmental Factors that affect your skin. Just a few top priorities that would make a huge difference in your skin’s healthy, youthful looks.

How to Use Tranexamic Acid for Best Results
When you choose to add Tranexamic Acid to your skin care routine, consistency is the key to best results.
I would go for a quality serum formulation containing Tranexamic Acid. One of my favorite products I’ve been using regularly for a few years is Skin Perfecting Serum by The A Method. You can check it HERE.
It is the best skin product with Tranexamic Acid I’ve ever used. Obviously, this is my personal opinion, and I speak from my personal experience.
The uniqueness of this formulation is in its potent combination of several acids that work in unison with Tranexamic Acid.
– Phytic Acid – one of the best of gentle exfoliators for the skin and belongs to Alpha-Hydroxy Acid group. It removes the dead skin in a non-abrasive way. One of the unique features this acid brings to the table is its ability to bind with heavy metals while fighting free radical damage. You can see how this incredible acid would protect your skin form premature aging, dullness and environmental stressors.
– Glycolic Acid belongs to Alpha-Hydroxy Acid group. It has the smallest molecule that can penetrate deep into the skin and dissolve dead skin cells, unclog pores, revealing glowing skin. One more golden feature of this acid is its ability to activate Fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen production. Where there’s collagen, there’s improved elasticity, less wrinkles, and firmer skin. All that creates a lifted look, wouldn’t you agree?
– Salicylic Acid is a fat-soluble acid and hails from the Beta-Hydroxy Acid group. It is a pore-purifying, redness-reducing and glow-boosting powerhouse. It is a beautiful addition to women’s skin routine, especially when you are 40+, and those who are in peri- and menopause era.
– Delta Lactone is not an acid (it’s an ester). However, when it is mixed with water, it can have a mild exfoliating and skin-conditioning properties. It provides gentle exfoliation, hydration and antioxidant benefits to the skin.

Like with any new skincare product, do test it on your skin first. When in doubt, consult your skin care professional to help you to figure out the routine, the products, and ways to use them for the best outcome for your skin.
As you see, the Tranexamic Acid is an idea ingredient for women 40+ who want stronger, healthier, and more youthful-looking skin. For those of us who are going through peri- and menopause, the TXA works on many fronts: from fading skin’s discoloration to helping skin stay hydrated, calm and resilient.

I’ve ignored my skin for too long.
X formally known as Twitter keeps suspending my account for reposting things from contest and giveaways. I think they’re considering it’s spam and I keep having to try and get them to understand that I’m not hurting anyone but so for none of these giveaways in this giveaway hat, I can’t tweet anything because Witter or ex will suspend my account. Probably indefinitely now. Has anyone else experienced this and do it do you know what to do? It’s very unfair cause Twitter did not used to do this for us.
Jamie,
There’s no control what they do. Just use other social media channels for the giveaways if you have any.
I’m always looking for new products to improve my skin.
I want to win this to help my skin since I was forced into menopause at 36 after getting breast cancer and it’s spreading to my lymph nodes and to my ovaries which led to every female organ in my body having to be removed and both breast being removed as well, I went in for surgery on my period and came out and felt like an alien in my body it was scary, and I wasn’t informed what the lack of estrogen would actually do to my skin body and my mental state it’s been a long rough six years because of being young and in menopause, I’ve aged a lot faster. My skin is so dry and I’m always on the lookout for extra moisture anything that has to do with menopause and I I’ve only found one brand on the market and when I go to order, it’s always out of stock. I wish it was talked about more because it’s not just women in their 40s and 50s that get put into menopause. I was forced so it’s worse that way it’s so scary and anything to help my dry saggy wrinkled skin and six years. It’s scary how much of the age because of the lack of estrogen being stopped in a matter of a three hour surgery.
Jamie,
I hear you and your pain. The information about changes in a woman’s body leading and during and after menopause is super limited. Besides, often such information does not answer the questions we have.
And when it comes to skin changes and the actions we need and should take to maintain the skin in its beautiful, healthy parameters – this information is almost non-existent.
That is why this blog is about the women who are going through changes triggered in their bodies that lead to menopausal symptoms. I focus on woman’s skin 40+. Learning it through my personal life’s lessons and searching for solutions has led me to creating resources for other women who may be going through similar things/changes.
This Tranexamic Serum is an excellent skincare product to use for skin’s rejuvenation, hydration and protection thanks to unique features of this ingredient and other ingredients that are used in the formulation. In synergy, they produce an excellent result for women going through their hormonal changes and then living in menopause for the rest of their lives.
I greatly appreciate your response. I truly wasn’t expecting one. ???? I’m so happy to have found you and your blog. Thank you so much for being willing to talk about the big “M’ word freely.
Welcome, Jamie!
Glad to support the women like you with the information I share on the blog’s pages.
Never heard of it & would love to try it out!!
