“I Knew It Would Be A Changing Point In My Career” – Britt Robertson as Casey In Tomorrowland

Being part of the promotional team for the Disney’s new movie Tomorrowland is something to be excited about! Disney Studios flew us to Los Angeles to meet and interview the cast members and directors, writers, producers of the upcoming movie Tomorrowland. Here’s our magical encounter with Britt Robertson who plays the central role in the movie.

Self-confident and talented to perform on stage with the strength of emotion and belief make Britt Robertson, a rising new talent of Hollywood, one of the most powerful young actresses we know today.

We had a unique opportunity to sit down with Britt Robertson and ask questions about her role as Casey in new Disney movie Tomorrowland. The insights and genuine sharing of her involvement in the movie has a beautiful inspiration for daily living.  It would especially resonate with the tweens and teens audiences. Britt Robertson plays a teenager Casey who is the key character to see life perspective through the teenager’s eyes.

Her involvement in the movie was a multi-step process. Interviews, test scenes, more interviews. When the final confirmation of her role as “Casey arrived to her door – she was beyond happy!

“I was happy and I was elated, I was crying and I was just so excited. It was such a cool movie to be a part of and I loved the story so much and the people attached to it. I just knew that it was going to be a changing point for me in terms of career.”

Enthusiastic about her new role in TOMORROWLAND movie and being so open and free to talk to us about her role and her interaction on the set with other acting partners: George Clooney, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, – made it a truly magical experience to meet Britt Robertson in person.

Here are some of the most memorable questions from the interview.

What was it the attracted you in the movie script?

“The story itself is really sweet. It’s an original idea and it’s something that I had never thought about.

The themes of the movie really cover the future and how we look at it. How we, as a society, can actually influence our future and make it the world we want to live in. I thought that was a really powerful message. “

How much did you associate with your character in the movie Casey?

“I think her mindset was very different from mine, not so much anymore because I’ve adopted a lot of her traits. I think she’s a cool chick!

Prior to Tomorrowland, I always looked at the future as being this ominous thing. It was kind of daunting in this day and age to be so young in this world knowing what it could bring with everything that’s going on in the world.

Once  I read the script and I realized so many things that I hadn’t before.“

I was also interested to find out about Britt’s  thoughts and reflections on closely working with George Clooney, Raffey Cassidy, and Tim McGraw.

We found out that Britt’s a huge fan of country music! She shared her experience of working with Tim McGraw.

“So cool [working with Tim McGraw]. I love Tim McGraw like nobody’s business, I’m a huge country fan and in fact when I first met him I told him I love your music, I love your wife, and I think you’re the coolest. He is such a sweet family man, just hearing his stories about his daughters was really sweet and I got to pretend I was his daughter for a second.

George Clooney partnership was something to rave about!

“You have all these expectations of a person like that, a movie star and what that means. I don’t know that I would be able to handle it as well as he has and that was what was so surprising to me. Seeing how he’s just completely himself and hasn’t been lost in the process of becoming George Clooney.

He’s still the person that he wants to be, and working with him made me realize you can still be who you want to be in this industry…He’s so professional and I just learned a lot from him.”

During our interviews with the cast members of Tomorrowland, every single one of them reflected on what they learned and liked about each other. When asked about Raffey Cassidy who plays “Athena” in the movie, here’s what Britt said.

“As an actor, you’re used to taking the direction and making it your own. Brad [Bird, the movie Director] would ask very specific things and I would have a conversation with him about it. Then I would watch him give Raffey direction.

All she would say is Okay after every single time and I was like that’s how you take direction. I made a pact with myself from that point forward to do what Raffey does. I’m just going to say okay and I’m going to give it my best shot.”

There was a question about Britt’s favorite scenes in the movie. She mentioned a few for which she had to train in Martial Arts for a few months, drink a lot of Coca Cola, and consume a lot of sugary “pixie dust.” All will reveal itself when you watch Tomorrowland yourself. But this mention of the pin that is Central to the whole story in the movie stands out of all other mentions.

“I loved all the pin experience scenes.  There’s one in particular where I end up out in a lake, well not even a lake.  It it was like a swamp really, and in Florida, what, but what was so cool about it is, you know, in Florida in swamps there’s like crocodiles or alligators.  That’s’ what it is.  Crocodiles.  That would be even scarier. 

But I was like on the hunt for an alligator the entire time I was there and we were actually out in the water and they had spotted some, but then something about just like being in the water and having to also create these little pin experiences, it was just a lot of fun.”
