What are you planning for your Easter desserts 2019? Without any doubt, I will be baking these Peeps Cupcakes with surprise inside. Children love them. Adults have a cool flashback into their own childhood and family traditions celebrating holidays.
Facts About Marshmallow PEEPS That May Surprise You
#1 Yellow Peeps are the original ones, and still the favorite
No matter how many flavors and colors Peeps offers, YELLOW beats them all! I know I prefer Yellow every single time.
#2 Over 5.5 Million Easter Peeps are made every day!
The Just Born factory in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, makes enough peeps in one year to circle Earth twice!
In 2015, there were about 2 Billion Peeps produced and consumed. Wow! Every year, this number goes up. Stay tuned for this year’s update.
#3 It takes about 6 minutes to make one Peep
Before 1953, it took about 27 hours to make one peep. The process was not automated, and each chick was almost hand-crafted. After Sam Born bought the Rodda Candy Company, he automated the whole process.
#4 Peeps used to have wings
They were clipped in 1955 to give this dessert a sleeker and modern look.
#5 Peep’s eyes are made out of Carnauba wax!
Hei, it’s the edible wax which is non-toxic! Yes, it is used in such non-food items like shoe polish and car waxes. But don’t worry, it won’t bring harm to our bodies.
#6 There are Sugar FREE Peeps
This trend started when the food and candy industries realized that there are segments of population that need to be served their products just with minor modifications.
#7 There are Chocolate-Covered Marshmallow Peeps
Chocolate lovers go zonkers about their favorite candy dipped and layered with chocolate.
#8 Peeps come in a variety of flavors
You can find Sweet Lemonade Peeps, Bubble Gum Peeps, Party Cake Peeps and even Mystery Chicks Peeps!
#9 Peeps are EVERYONE’S Most Favorite Non-Chocolate Easter Candy Ever!
How can you not love peeps? These days, you can find chocolate covered marshmallow peeps, candy and caramel adorned peeps, and peeps of different design and packaging. It’s a cool gift to give.
#10 Peeps are used for an immense number of recipes and crafts – like this one below!
Many Easter desserts cannot go without using marshmallow peeps in them. I use different peeps for Easter cupcakes ideas. My light desserts like this one during Spring are decorated with peeps chicks or bunnies. The decoration ideas for Easter are plentiful, and Peeps are an important part of our cultural celebration.
Put A Bit Of Candy Surprise Inside Peeps Cupcake!
Each Easter peeps cupcake can have its own candy trophy. I fill the hole inside the cupcake with M n’ M candy and cake candy decoration items.

I had no idea the eyes were made of carnauba wax! I would have thought that would be harmful, good to know it isn’t.

I’m always so shocked to see how many people love Peeps. I think they are disgusting but we buy them for my MIL. I love to see the various creations people make with them.

I didn’t know this about peeps. I’m glad they make sugar free peeps though because I’m leading my kids in that direction.
My husband is a Peeps fanatic. He prefers the original, but won’t turn down the other holiday ones. Now a chocolate covered Peep? That I could sink my teeth into!!!!
Elizabeth,
My hubby is the same: loves, loves peeps! He gets several packages at the store just for himself.
Oh yes, I will be making these for my kids! I can hear them not screaming to help me in the kitchen and they love Peeps. This is so cool!
This is cool! I love that there’s a surprise middle. Peeps facts are fun! My mom and my daughter are obsessed so I was aware of all the mystery and non-mystery flavors. They’re really made a name for themselves! I even got my mom Peeps socks.
Everything about those cupcakes is awesome. You’ve got Peeps on top (my favorite Easter treat) and you even have candy in the middle. Boom!
