going to the drive in movies and before the movie started they had a train ride and I would always go on it with my dad
My dad’s birthday was the same as mine. He came in with two cake boxes, put one on top of the fridge, and said it was his. He threw the other one against the wall. I was shocked. I’d never gotten a cake for my birthday, and here he was throwing it!!! I went to pick it up, and the box came open, and inside was a pair of black boots I’d been wanting all winter.
i remember my dad and always going fishing and out for breakfast every weekend
I remember around June each year getting the green pint baskets together for my Grandparents. My Grandfather would take me for a ride to the local farm in his pickup truck and we would pick the biggest strawberries and bring them home to clean them. I loved smelling the honeysuckle on the back roads going home.
I have to say my favorite childhood memory was not with my dad as never knew him, my mom raised me alone and saved and on my 16th birthday was able to afford to take me to Disney World. I had always wanted to go she made me an album will never forget. My step-dad was also a wonderful man have many memories of him as well, but he passed away 2 years ago. Entered this as thought would be a great gift for my boyfriend of 7 years, he is a great dad and grandpa, and treats my daughters and grandson as they were also his <3 him. Thank you so much for the opportunity!! 🙂
I spent summers with my dad and we always went camping. Great memories around campfires, on lakes and surviving dad’s friends and their fireworks.
I stayed at my grandparents for a month or so in the summer when I was a kid. I’d sleep with my pap and every night we’d lie in bed and talk and we’d both have a piece of chocolate candy before going to sleep. Years later I found out that the candy was ex-lax..lol
My favorite memory was going river rafting and getting stuck on a branch and my dad had to ride around the entire back down and get me.
I remember when we went to Puerto Rico when I was 10 and they had an earth tremor and my mom could come home quick enough but it was beautiful and we had a great time until the tremor.
I remember my grandfather laying down with me when I was a little girl. We were supposed to be taking a “nap” but we always talked and read books together.
I don’t have many good memories of my father, but I do remember a day when I was very young that we went fishing. I was picking up corn kernels off the ground someone had left for the ducks, and I was using them to bait the line. I caught more fish than any of the men who were fishing that day.
My fav childhood memory of my dad is probably the way he used to sit with my little sister and I rubbing our backs until we fell asleep almost every night even though it made my mom mad (kept us up longer 😉 )
we had a large cabin cruiser and we would spend weekends up at the lake on the boat – I remember dad driving us all around the lake and river – such fun memories
I remember going to Michigan to visit my mom’s family. We got to run around bare foot, ride in the back of truck, sit on grandpa’s lap and steer the truck! Eat tons of party store candy and just have fun. Those were the days. This would have been the early 80’s so people were allowed to ride in the back of trucks 🙂
wow there are a lot of great childhood memories i think one of the best ones is when my girlfriends and I were have a shaving creme party on the roof of my house and the cops surrounded the house thinking that we were burglerers lol and the Chief of Police was my Step dad ummm he and my mom were sleeping through it LOL
I remember when I was little my parents took us camping and my dad had us pretend to be Indian guides. We had so much fun and I didn’t find out until much later he was just trying to keep us quiet while my mom as napping!!
When I was small my dad would take me to the hardware store with him. I tagged along and saw what he was doing. I paid attention. When I grew up, I went with him to the hardware store again and, this time, he watched what I did. We spent many hours going shopping like 2 kids in a candy store.. I miss those days. I miss my dad…
I remember spending a month during the summer at my grandparent’s house in OH. We would walk everywhere. The church was down the street one way and the other way there was a little store. Oh how times have changed – there is no way my kids would walk alone in that area anymore!
I just remember kissing my dad’s bald spot every night before bed!
It was I think my 10th b-day and my dad told me to go upstairs to get a wash cloth. I went up there and in the tub was my b-day gift (a doll house for a family don’t remember what family of dolls). Anyway I came down with the wash cloth and he said you didn’t see anything else? I started laugh.
