Summer is great with its warmer weather and more possibilities for kids to have a new experience. If you haven’t watched or had parties with a movie being watched outside, in your yard, by the pool, – then this is one more opportunity to try something new. Trying new things with children shows them it’s OK not to know all details or have every thing at hand. What really matters is using creativity and ideas to organize something all would enjoy. The process of getting there counts a lot.
We would emphasize creativity! We decided to host a BAMBI movie night outside our house. Thinking of the movie theme, where the action is taking place and the character ensemble, we decided to go with the woods, plants, berries theme. Here’s what my kids suggested and helped to make and bake for their movie under the stars evening.

Green Jello with Fresh Blueberries
Food serves is all about fresh berries, nuts, herbs, greens and fresh flavors.
Berry Torte – Decorate this Dessert Any Way You Want
Lots of berries of all sorts to feed your guests!
Nuts & Japanese Rice Crackers + Lots of Mint
This simple yet very snackishly yummy dish is one of the simplest ones to make. As we had some guests who call for Gluten Free foods, we made this mix with nuts and crackers and freeze dried corn that adds some sweetness to the salty taste. It is awesome, really. Anybody would love it, gluten free or not!
To add more festivity to the BAMBI movie celebration, we made these Bambi Cutie Rings that are easy to print and cut out.

The screen and chairs set up can be as versatile as your space permits. Use futons, blankets, low stools and kids chairs, oversized pillows and beanbags. Anything that is comfortable and suitable for the movie environment will work.
Stay tuned what we’ve managed to pull in our backyard for the movie night out under the stars.

This movie is a classic, and you can’t go wrong with watching this one.
Bambi is fun movie. And nothing can be better than enjoying that movie with this healthy and delicious dessert.
Bambi was one of my fave movies as a child. I love the story so much. I love the way you set up this party.
Jenn,
Thank you, sweetie.
We decided to go after the Bambi-worthy foods. Whatever Bambi would eat – we’d eat, too!
I’ve been seeing this movie for a while now! Maybe I should check it out! I think everyone is getting along with it!
This is such a great idea. I can’t remember the last time I watched a Bambi movie.
What can I say? I am just happy that my child can enjoy a movie that I enjoyed watching as a child too. Thank you technology for making this possible! I love the snacks you prepared too. The rice crackers and mixed nuts sounds good to me.
Seeing Bambi brings back so many happy childhood memories for me. My mom and dad never failed to take us to the movies whenever a new Disney movie was being shown. Bambi was one of my favorites! I am happy that the kids nowadays can enjoy it too! BTW, I love those berry-topped jello snacks. 🙂
I love the fresh fruit on the jello idea! Honestly something I will be making a lot this summer after seeing this!
I keep seeing a lot of Bambi blogs recently. Is it making a comeback? 😀 Great healthy snacks to enjoy the film.
Danik,
Disney is celebrating BAMBI’s 75th Anniversary this year.
This animation was released in August 1942.
BAMBI has been included into the Walt Disney Signature Collection. Meaning, the movie has been updated, more bonuses of never-before-seen materials have been added to the collection we can enjoy at home.
This is the kind of snack I love serving my kids. I might do this one since I have blueberries and strawberries at home. Thanks for the inspiration.
Rose,
Oh, my, please be my guest and use it!
I try to show my kids that great food can be truly nutritious, too.
Of course we have other snacks every now and then. But what is truly awesome, my kids do not crave them and live freely without them. Their choices of food are good and that gives me a smile.
My kids and I love Bambi. It’s such a cute movie. I love the jello snack idea and the fun rings! What a neat way to watch!!
All of those treats look like they’d be great for watching Bambi under the stars! I have always loved that movie.
LOVE how you themed the snacks around what Bambi might have eaten – fun! The movie has, and continues to be, one of my favorites. Thank you so much for this!
I need to re-watch Bambi and it’s definitely a classic. This were part of the Disney movies we watched as kids. The Bambi rings looks cool too.
Bambi is one of my favorite Disney movies and I would love to set up a movie party for the grandkids. Watching a movie under the stars would be so much fun.
Oh how I love Bambi. I watched it many times when I was a child and I am so excited to show it to my own kids.
