National Take Your Cat To the Vet Day
This day has been created to remind cat owners about the importance of the regular vet checks for their feline friends.
A staggering statistic tells us that less than half of home cats see their vet. Like pups, kitties call for an expert to see them regularly to continue living in good health.

As a take-away from this awareness campaign for the importance of vet care, I would like to leave you wth these top three Value Points for an aging cat.
Being a parent to three Cornish Rexes, two of which are rescues, I realize how the life of my beloved kitties could be in danger. Small things like scratches, obsessive licking or losing interest in self-grooming could be signs in a more serious health condition in your pet. Vet visits are our first step to implement the preventive care for our pets. An veterinarian can spot things that can be easily missed by us.
Here are Top 3 Tips to Care for An Aging Cat that Can Make A BIG Difference
#1 Schedule Regular Visits With Your Veterinarian
With science and pet knowledge moving forward and making new discoveries, our pets receive a higher quality lifestyle. A cat is considered to be a Senior when it reaches 11-14 year mark. However, I have seen different stats when a senior title was moved to 7-10-year-old feline.
The doctor’s eye is especially needed to notice any changes in your cat’s behavior and well-being.
#2 Feed Your Cat a Diet with Adequate Protein Level
Did you know a fact that cats require a higher protein level than dogs? This is true. Protein intake becomes especially important in the cat’s senior years.
Please, please do not think that a cat can follow any vegetarian diet! Cats are carnivores! Feed them MEAT! The nutrient like taurine and arachidonic acid can be obtained only from meat sources.
#3 Consider fortifying your Senior Cat’s Diet with Essential Amino Acids – DHA & EPA
Cats benefit greatly from Omega-3s. Their aging brain, eyes, heart will benefit from the food rich in Omega3.
Older cats can suffer from arthritis and joint ailments. The Omega-3 supplements have shown to be effective in making the pet feeling better.
Taking a small step every day towards your cat’s health will make a difference in her well-being. Enjoy your CAT and remember to share its pictures and cat tips with hashtag #Cat2VetDay on your social media – Twitter, Instagram, Facebook.

I didn’t know there was a Cat/Vet day. I do now and will definitely make sure my little adorable fluffballs get to their doc.
Is your one cat a hairless cat or is it just so old it’s losing its hair? I always wanted a hairless cat!
All of my cats are Corning Rexes. Their hair is very short, but they are not hairless.
Sphynx is a hairless breed.
I had no idea there was a national take your cat to the vet day. These tips were very useful. I do not have a cat, but have friends that do so I will pass this along to them.
Cats are such really cute pets.It is good that there is a day for cats. They too need vet attention!
I don’t have a cat at present, but I think this is a brilliant way to raise awareness about looking after your pet and the importance of vet visits.
I love cats I always had them when I was younger. I now have 2 dogs. Your photos makes me want to have a cat again.
We don’t have such a day here and it is truly a pity. With the number of stray cats and dogs having a reminder to take your cat to the vet seems like a joke. People are totally irresponsible and plain dump here when it comes to sterilising cats. Good for you though!
I don’t have a cat to take to the vet but I certainly have a dog who could use a trip soon. I will be taking him soon to have him get a treatment for fleas that he is struggling with of late. Thanks for the good reminder.
I just love this post. I have been taking my cats to the vet for the past 2 months because they are all rescues.
These are great tips! I have two cats, Binx and Ellie, who are like babies to me! This info is super useful!
thanks for sharing your tips. Mine is not yet old, but now I know what to do.
My cat’s favorites are from Royal Canin. Funny because he knows if its not from Royal Canin 😀
I don’t have cats…I am going to share it with my friends who have cats. This is quite useful and informative post. Thanks!
I don’t have pets, but I do know my friends who have cats as their pets… This post would be useful for them… Il definitely share this post to them 🙂
My cat is only about 2 years old so I don’t have to worry about her aging quite yet, but routine checkups certianly are important! She’s actually a stray we adopted as a kitten; we had a lot of outdoor cats that sadly weren’t as well cared for by their owners as they should have been.
I have not cats in awhile but would like to think they were taken care of we’ll when I had them. They were taken to the vets regularly, vaccines up to date and rabies shots given on schedule.
What precious kitties. It is important to take them to the vet. I do for my two cats. I want them to be with us for a long time!
This is such an important post, whatever you animal is they really do need to be checked over by vets and making sure they are getting the right injections to keep them as healthy as possible.
You’ve got some great tips here, and I’m so pleased you’ve reminded everyone to take their cat to the vet 🙂
You sound like such a good cat mommy! Our family is allergic so we have never been able to have a cat. If we could though, I would get a Cornish Rex for sure.
Whenever we take out dogs to the vet, I rarely ever see a cat unless it is an emergency. I wish more cat owners would realize just how important it is to get at least yearly check ups for them as well. Thanks for putting this awesome reminder out there!
