STEM Into Exciting World Of Science

STEM activities, toys and games are becoming a prevalent part of life. And I am so excited to see a much better and richer in its content educational toys for children of different ages.

STEM stands for Sciences, Tech, Engineering, and Math. These four areas of life are the beginning point for children to deepen their curiosities that can lead them to create, prove, get puzzled and repeat a magical circuit of life using some of the simplest tools around the house.

I have a pleasure to collaborate with some of the best brands and companies who care about the STEM type of activities and experiments for kids. One of the well-known leaders in the STEM toys and games is Educational Insights.

The creative leadership of this company are constantly on their research and developmental path. Some of the best and latest STEM kits they have developed are from an amazing series NANCY B’s Science Club, lead by Nancy Balter, Product Designer and Former Science Teacher.

Having a few simple science tools on hand can change your child’s interests and deepen her or his curiosities in the things they would other way never wonder about. The NANCY B’s Science Club is a powerful instrument to provide such simple tools and keep them, experiment with them and make discoveries as often as a child plays with them.

I’d love to showcase three powerful kits from the NANCY B’S collection: Aquascope, Hydroponics Kit, and Mighty Microbes Lab. All are designed to be a keeper!

Every STEM kit from NANCY B’s collection is presented in a box you would not want to throw away. Each box is designed in a such a way, it peeks our curiosity from the moment we get to hold it and look at each panel and side of the box. It’s like reading a speaking-to-you book – each side tells us a story answering questions why, what and who.

Being a parent who encourages STEM learning, I treasure the way Educational Insights presents each science lab in a box for a growing science enthusiast. We get Nancy Balter’s aka Nancy B background and a short story about the person who represents the area of science that each kit is dedicated to.

AQUASCOPE
& Underwater Wonders Activity Journal

This sturdy underwater scope allows your child to explore the nearby waters! Be it a lake or a nearby deep puddle, she or he can use this tool to peek and learn more about the life not visible to an eye without amplification and specialized tools. With bright LED lights inside this scope, a child will get to the nitty-gritty of the local water life residing by the shores. Algae, plankton and other creatures are amplified up to 5x, enough to get fascinated and study them.

Where there’s a discovery, there has been a process of thinking and creating and masterminding. Let’s create situations for our children where they are challenged to take a new look at life within and around them. They are going to be the future policy makers and planet builders. Without STEM knowledge and education, there’s no future that would provide abundantly to the lives and souls of all who populates this society and the Planet Earth. STEM gives not only in ways of science. STEM gives birth and prolific grounds to developing of empathy – the key to successful decision-making and survival of the humankind.  

Give your child different opportunities to express their curiosities and a need to experiment on their own terms. Educational Insights does it with toys and games. Another awesome way is to take your child to places where they could explore and work on developing different skills and 3D thinking.

One of the growing in popularity is Snapology, a place where children learn to build with LEGO® bricks, K’Nex pieces and other technologies. Started by two women who happened to be sisters, this educational franchise for kids has become a local gem yard for fun and interaction for children as young as one and as old as fourteen. Everybody gets a ton of food for thought on one hand, and a lot of experiences of developing different motor skills. Little kids, big kids, parents – all are excited in such environments for learning and support.

Whatever you do for your child this school year, allow her or him to experience new things that are a part of STEM. It doesn’t need to be expensive. It just needs to pose questions that will lead for new discoveries. STEM experiments are for everybody, boys and girls alike. Let’s contribute our share to the child’s development and be the parents who STEM into life alongside with their children.
