Today, we’re inviting you to join us to share the significance of both Women’s Equality Day on August 26 and the upcoming release of SUFFRAGETTE on October 23 by wearing the colors of suffrage – PURPLE, for dignity and ability, GREEN for hope, and WHITE for purity – this Wednesday and encouraging friends around you to do the same.
Women’s Right To Vote
August 26, 2015, marks the 95th anniversary of the admission of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the victory the Woman Suffrage Movement had worked so hard for. After 72 years of countless suffrage protests, petitions, speeches, pamphlets, and nights spent in jail, on August 26, 1920, women had won the right to vote and the Suffrage movement had finally accomplished its goal.
WE OWE OUR RIGHT TO VOTE IN THIS COUNTRY TO THE WOMEN WHO CAME BEFORE US.
You will be once again encouraged, inspired to do more in your life today. And the music score in SUFFRAGETTE will take your breath away. Watch this trailer to get a sneak peak to what’s to come in October on a Big Screen!
Women’s Voting Rights Were Fought For
Academy Award nominees Carey Mulligan and Helena Bonham Carter, and three-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, lead the cast of a powerful drama about the women who were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality in early-20th-century Britain.
The stirring story centers on Maud (played by Carey Mulligan), a working wife and mother whose life is forever changed when she is secretly recruited to join the U.K.’s growing Suffragette movement. Galvanized by the outlaw fugitive Emmeline Pankhurst (Meryl Streep), Maud becomes an activist for the cause alongside women from all walks of life.
When increasingly aggressive police action forces Maud and her dedicated fellow Suffragettes underground, they engage in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with the authorities, who are shocked as the women’s civil disobedience escalates and sparks debate across the nation.
Inspired by true events, “Suffragette” is a moving drama exploring the passion and heartbreak of those who risked all they had for women’s right to vote.
Suffragette Movement for Women’s Equality
A drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.
These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing.
Radicalized and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality – their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives. Maud was one such foot soldier. The story of her fight for dignity is as gripping and visceral as any thriller, it is also heart-breaking and inspirational.
The film also stars Ben Whishaw, Anne-Marie Duff, Brendan Gleeson, Romola Garai, and Natalie Press. “Suffragette” is directed by BAFTA Award winner Sarah Gavron from an original screenplay by Abi Morgan.

I’m a Mom of 3 little girls so women’s rights and equality issues are very important to me. All 4 of us wore green, purple, and white today for some fun celebrating women’s equality! I’m looking forward to #Suffragette in October!
I will most definitely be watching this. I think women forget that there was a time when we were relegated to cooking and being quite little women.
