The whole movie has an edge: from the very beginning, we see how clearly every character is cast and scripted. We are walking a thin line with characters on the screen between integrity and dozens of human lives being lost. We are exposed in a life-like way that true heroism is taking action. In the resolute thinking to resolve a dangerous rescue situation, we are shadowing the main character played by Chris Pine in his step-by-step approach in bringing to safety the crew of the huge oil tanker. If he succeeds, then it will be a lot of lives saved and families preserved. If he allows human fear to interfere with his actions – the end to all they plan to do will be doomed from the very beginning.
This movie is an excellent example how some people elevate themselves against all odds and prevail in their attempts. Though, we do see the opposite value of human nature – falling to fear and refusing to stand up and lead yourself as well as others by the personal example.
Watching this movie with the family will make it even more precious. The emotionality and feelings are elevated due to the human distress and critical circumstances that characters have to go through. Teaching points of how to live your life vs what will happen if you do not.
