If you have never seen DreamWorks TROLLS series, you may want to check it out soon on Netflix January 19. What you may be surprised with is how much music and interaction every episode is bursting with. That is why children of different ages, including adults may I say, are totally into this incredibly colorful, musical series.
I had a privilege to meet Alana Da Fonseca, Executive Music Producer, and Alex Geringas, Composer, of Trolls: The Beat Goes On. This incredibly creative duo has worked out songs and music accompaniment for every Trolls episode there is.
Dynamic & Super Fun Duet Writes Music for the TROLLS Series
When you write songs, how do you write your songs? Alana and Alex usually get a short treatment description of the details from the episode, like a parade or party or something going on in the Trolls Village.
When writing for the series like TROLLS, the music team usually gets a brief or a script about the episodes, characters, events that will take place inside each segment of the series. In a word, the music and composing team has to know the details in order to transfer us into the world of feeling and emotion that each episode and characters inside try to convey to us.
After a few demos on how-to-write a song for a series, it was clear that it’s not just about individuals who work on their segment of the animation movie. It is a huge TEAM effort supported by many departments of the movie-making industry. Take a look and listen to the theme song in TROLLS: THE BEAT GOES ON!

These days, making music is a complex, yet so much more creative process. All thanks to the technical support form different software.
