Get Your Flower Power with
A Flower Twisting Craft Tutorial!
Use any magazine or scrap paper and make these beautiful flowers you can use to decorate, add to other craftsy project and make someone’s day!
I just took a piece of scrap paper from my desk and made this cool rose. Another idea is to sprinkle a bit of color on the floral blossoms. That would add some playfulness and character to your paper flower idea.
Whatever you do, enjoy making these simple, easy, yet inspirational flowers. Who would’ve known that this pin would gain over 180,000 REPINS and counting!
It is one of the most relaxing crafts to make. I made this one to take my mind of a stressful day using a recyclable paper. The final result is stunning!
STEP 1 – Choose the Color for Your Paper Flowers
Grab any piece of paper, 8×10 size to start with. You can use any shape paper, really. Just keep in mind, it is easier to start with a bigger surface when you do it for the first time. Draw the outer boarder first of your design. Then create a labyrinth with approximately equal width inside the boarder. Choose the color you need to celebrate your occasion with!
STEP 2 – Engage In A Creative Twist Of Your Flower Craft
You don’t need to be perfect when outlining the boarders for the scissor cut. Cut alongside the labyrinth line. Start twisting from the outer cutting side of the flower. Don’t worry if some paper gets out of place. You can cut the center tip later, if it’s too much of excess paper.
STEP 3 – Unveiling the Petals of Your Paper Flower
When you finish twisting the paper alongside the cutting edge of the labyrinth, you will get something like that. Cut the excess of paper from the middle part, if it does not fit inside the flower. I just tore the excess paper off. Carefully, begin pressing with your index finger in the middle of the flower and loosen the paper petals.
STEP 4 – Adjust the Shape of Your Bloom
Allow your flower to “bloom” by carefully pulling by the paper edges around its diameter. It won’t fall apart! Adjust it to the width and openness you desire. I did not use any glue in this DIY project. Depending on the purpose of your flower twisting craft, you can easily use tape, glue and even stapler to incorporate your basic flowers into a bigger craft.
STEPS 5 & 6 – Celebrate Your Paper Floral Bloom!
Here’s the finished product for a cool and simple flower I can use for my other crafts I have in mind for the Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Birthday, Teacher Appreciation Day and any other day of the year. This paper twist craft is truly a versatile gem to have in your collection of craft ideas.
One of the things I’ve done, but did not take a picture of, is a glass jar full of these hand-made flowers. My child helped me with the project to deliver the final result to their teacher. Dream of your final craft and go with it!
