It was extremely difficult to get Bowdabra into the market because the space was already populated. I knew I had to approach the marketing from a different angle if I wanted attention.
I used all my airline miles and flew to Germany to attend “Christmas World” (the biggest crafting and holiday trade show at the time.) While I was there, I networked with industry professionals and made connections with ribbon manufacturers.
One invited me to showcase Bowdabra at their booth and when they saw how many people loved Bowdabra, they agreed to distribute it, and this was my ticket in. I got into the European market, the Australian market, and then, finally, the US market.
