Star Wars Rebels

One of the prominent parts of the series is that 2 of the 5 main characters are women who are leading the rebellion movement with their wit, determination and charisma.

Being fortunate to meet the Vanessa Marshall and Tiya Sircar who voice Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren respectively, I was sincerely touched by the talent and emotional breadth these two women operate with when it comes to bringing to life animated characters.

You gotta know that every single person involved in this Star Wars Rebells project is undoubtedly a HUGE FAN of Star Wars CULTURE. These two actresses are no exception.

During our sit-down interview with them they shared their passion for being able to stand up for your own ideas and implement them into actionable deeds. I am so happy and proud of these two women who made the female characters of the Star Wars Rebells โ€“ Hera and Sabine โ€“ the models and the ideals to look up to for any girl out there!

Vanessa Marshall as Hera Syndulla

Hera Syndulla is a gifted pilot who makes its navigation look super easy task. She knows her strength in convincing outhers in rethinking their thoughts, thus, making a heart-felt, gut-navigated, decisions. Hera keeps the Ghost group alive by keeping them all together!

Hera wears โ€œutilitarian flight gear,โ€ orange in color, with her Twiโ€™lek head-tails hanging down her back. Sheโ€™s not particularly glamorous, and is

just focused on getting the job done. Like every member of the Ghost team, she has her reasons for rebelling against the Empire. Uncovering those reasons will be part of the Star Wars Rebels story, says executive producer Dave Filoni.

Here’s what Vanessa Marshall says about her heroine Hera:

“Hera is the leader and, and while she is fierce, sheโ€™s a great fighter and a great pilot, sheโ€™s also very nurturing, and she sort of plays a maternal role, uh, within the crew.  And I think she sets a really great example, and I does โ€“ I think she does a lot of mentoring to โ€“ Sabine.  Now, I will also say parenthetically as a Star Wars fan, she is a Mandalorian.  So I personally bow down to her character.”

Tiya Sircar as Sabine Wren

Sabine Wren voiced by Tiya Sircar is an expert in weapons and plays a key role in Team Ghost. She rebells against the imposed will and thoughts from the Empire and fights back using her skill and knowledge.

โ€œShe is spunky, sheโ€™s feisty, sheโ€™s got a little bit of attitude,โ€ says actress Tiya Sircar.

It’s hard not to notice how creative Sabine character is! She is fashionable in her hair-do, extra bright and personalized graffiti cards and armor. She is an artist in everything she does and wears!

In the end, Sabine is a strong, no-nonsense heroine. As Tiya Sircar says, โ€œI think sheโ€™s kind of an inspiration.โ€

As Tiya goes on, Sabine Wren is a women to admire adn to follow.

“Itโ€™s such an honor [to play Sabine] โ€“ it makes me cringe, you know. I donโ€™t have kids, but it makes me cringe to think like all little girls have to look up to and to aspire to be. So, to me, itโ€™s such an honor to get to play this female character who’s a teenager โ€“ and yet she is so intelligent and so not even concerned about the superficial stuff whatsoever. “

These two women, Vanessa Marshall and Tiay Sircar, are everything that any woman would want to live with: Confident and Joyful in the fact that we, as women, should stand our ground and exercise our beauty and smarts in doing the right thing.

Thank you, GALZ, for keeping your minds and hearts open with us during the interview. Your beauty, that is in both your thoughts and looks, made a difference in my life.
