What Wacoal Bra company has done with their commercial is generating millions in view of their ad on YouTube. See it for yourself here.
So, it has successfully generated buzz, and people are talking. But does it make women want to buy that brand of bra?
Will they even remember the brand?
My girl-friend told me that it makes her think, maybe there are bras that are only for flat-chested women (and men)… and therefore, not for her.
There’s a big wave of advertising that seeks to get attention and win awards.
But as David Ogilvy says, If it doesn’t sell, it’s not creative.
When I was watching this commercial without knowing about the twist, I was already building my own story in my mind, when it took a different turn – unexpected twist.
At the end, I was actually disappointed with the ending.
I would like the company to target real women with real bra needs!
Yes, it is a good chunk of money spent by the company who can afford it (can it at the end?)
But the commercial did not make me want to buy THEIR bra. Actually, it was a turn-off.
My question is: Why can’t you take a real woman and do something stunning with her in that commercial?
In a humble opinion, it would have generated even a louder BUZZzzzzz and would have made women with real needs for a bra to check this brand out.
David Ogilvy is right today again.
