You Yourself Design Your Own #HookedOnLife Attitude and Aptitude
Tegan Aileen Wylie, The Artist And Entrepreneur
Life Isn’t About Finding Yourself.
Life Is About
Creating Yourself.
~ Tegan Aileen Wylie
Hooked On Life has become a wide-spread campaign started by FYSH UK, a leading brand for women’s eyeglasses wear. At the core of this campaign lies the message that resonates with any woman who embraces her own spirit and who she truly is.
By profiling women like Tegan Aileen Wylie, FYSH UK has drawn the attention of millions of women to the importance of living out their Dream. And each one of us can do it with style and taste only you can define for yourself.
Welcome Tegan Aileen Wylie, an amazing woman, one of the most ever creative individuals you could ever known.
I’ve learned so much from Tegan from a few Question-Answer interactions. And I would like you to be exposed to and benefit from this woman’s empowering point of view about Life, Business, and Personal Style.
Question –> How would you define your personal differentiation in your career and in your niche you operate from?
We have a lot of women who are still trying to define their place and their unique approach in their own businesses. Your response would be amazingly helpful.
Tegan: When I first moved to Toronto I started working in Arts & Cultures for a grassroots arts organization. Anyone who is an entrepreneur knows how demanding maintaining a business can be. In the arts there is an additional factor or taking time to really BE an artist amongst paperwork, taxes, classes and budgets. I wanted to help artists maintain their business’ leaving them more time to create.
It was during that period where I started to see a need for Assistants who posses the mind for business and a passion for creativity. This insight developed my initial niche which has now morphed into many different forms and has allowed me to work on many projects.
Since then, I’ve come along way and it’s safe to say I’ve been the wearer of many hats! I am a social media consultant, an event coordinator and creative director – just to name a few! I assist my clients in defining their visions and goals and together we develop a effective strategy to bring them to fruition.
Question –> Why did you choose to participate in the Hooked On Life Campaign?
Tegan: I was thrilled when I was selected for the Hooked on Life Campaign. I’ve been a diverse size 12 model for six years in Toronto and have experienced the shift in Canadian fashion as it has become more inclusive of real women. It is so refreshing to be a part of a campaign that empowers strong women and celebrates sex appeal and style in all shapes and sizes!
Question –> What did you gain during this campaign for yourself personally and/or your business?
Tegan: I felt very spoiled while shooting this campaign. Aside from all the glitz and glamour of designer clothes and designer specs, the camaraderie on set was unsurpassed. I believe that every now and then in life you can have a flawless experience, where everyone you work with completely gels together. That’s where the magic happens and that was most defiantly the vibe on the set of the Hooked on Life campaign.
Question –> What Difference are you striving to make in people’s lives with your business?
Tegan: I’ve worked with clients in Arts & Cultures, Non-for Profit and Entrepreneurial sectors. My ultimate goal is to work with organizations that are really contributing to the social and cultural fabric of this great city.
For example, I’m currently working on an incredible project call SHE, which is hosted by the charitable organization After Breast Cancer.
We are giving 12 women who are breast cancer ambassadors a day of luxury and glamour. Each ambassador has her own team of hair, make-up, stylist and photographer. Wearing designer outfits, in a stunning Toronto setting these women will be photographed and celebrated for their beauty and strength. The photographs will be featured in a touring art exhibit and at the After Breast Cancer Pink Diamond Gala in the fall.
I love this project because we get to look at breast cancer from the other side of the tunnel. There are a lot of organizations out there which raise money to research and find cures for cancer which is wonderful, but I am so thrilled to be part of one who supports women after they’ve had this experience.
SHE is strong and she is beautiful in every way.
Question –> How does your personal sense of style, fashion affect you in feeling and acting it out during the day?
Tegan: I’d have to say I am a style chameleon. As a creative person I love the idea of dressing for an occasion. If I’m at a business meeting it’s about a sharp, form fitting, satin blazer with white embroidery and a pair of killer heels. If I’m at a party (say one of my own crazy brand of T+H Events parties) It’s probably some form of combat boots and a mini skirt!
My love of fashion and artistic nature comes across in my outfits and accessories. I feel confident and comfortable literally wearing my personality on my sleeve!
I think the key to being comfortable no matter how your dressed is to find one item that is really you. It can be a jacket, a belt, a ring or anything! Once you slip that on you know your true self is a part of your look and you know you look good!
Question –> What would you say to any woman who has her own business?
Tegan: Everything you’ve learned, every hat you’ve worn, will only benefit you as your business grows. A niche can change and develop as you develop and that’s ok.
Challenge and restriction are the birthplace of creativity so keep all your knowledge in your tool belt and carve out your own way.

Love the Quote! Creating myself. Love it!
My wife has a hard time picking out glasses, these look like a good choice for her.. I will pass it on.
i wear contacts most of the time, a few years ago I bought really cool glasses and I wore those all the time then– I think it is time to refesh with a new pair.
She sounds like a very ambitious woman. Best of luck to her in all her endevaours!
Nice interview! It’s so important you like yourself. It really is true that others won’t like you until you like yourself.
What a very interesting interview. I don’t consider size 12 “plus sized”, although the fashion industry is skewed in the direction of lower-weight models.
Ohmygosh- those glasses are SO cute! I love them!!
Great post!

Great interview, I agree your glasses should be fun and those really are
I LOVE the way these glasses look.
Believing in yourself is key !
I agree with Jessica.. If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody else will.
Hooked on Life… I love that! Looks like a really neat campaign. I had not heard of Tegan until this. She sounds like a brilliant woman.
I’m curious on how she manages her finances when she’s helping the people to build the campaign. Did she do it for free?
I love this campaign!! The frames are adorable and fashionable!!
This is a great campaign thanks for sharing..
Great campaign! Loving those purple glasses 🙂
I love campaigns that empower women and it looks like this one does just that. I too am in need of a personal assistant! Oh god would it be nice to clone me twice!! I need three of me to get all of my work done.
I actually had had my own bookkeeping service for about 10 years. I realized there was a desperate need for bookkeepers who could come in once or twice a month and take care of the books! When the economy tanked I decided to keep some of those clients and go to one of the companies on a 3 day a week basis. Now I am happily semi retired and reading my fool head off which is what I really enjoy doing!
She really gave some positive and constructive advice there!
Great Interview, i had fun reading . Thanks for Sharing

I enjoyed reading what Tegan had to say to female business owners. I also applaud her for her work with women with breast cancer.
Great interview!
I love ad campaigns that focus on real women! Great initiative.
I love the inspiration she puts out. It is almost like she is telling everyone to be yourself and don’t be afraid to show it to all. Look at the bigger picture and be afraid to try different things. Whole world out there for all of us to see.
wow! what she says cuts straight to the core. Thank you Tegan for your inspiring words! These affect me personally and I will take inspiration from what you shared…
I’ve realized now that I’m older that adding a business degree to any other degree is extremely helpful. I’ve been trying to decide what I want to get more education in and I’m leaning towards a business degree.
The SHE project sounds amazing. I’m so glad there are people out there doing things like this! I really like her quote “Challenge and restriction are the birthplace of creativity” I really believe that.
great looking spectacles you got there!
Thanks for sharing a great interview!
What beautiful women! I love the eye wear too.
