I love to experiment with foods that I do not eat frequently or have never eaten before. It is one more way to explore foods with more of different flavors and the benefits they bring to our well-being.
Shishito peppers are my relatively recent discovery, as I have not had these peppers when I was growing up.
Though some people enjoy Shishito peppers raw, the best way to celebrate them is by blistering them in sesame or olive oil and adding some salt and herbs on top. Low in calories, yet full of flavor, shishito peppers make a wonderful snack or side food.
Shishito peppers are rich in Vitamins C and K.
Vitamin C – an excellent anti-0xidant that is beneficial for the entire body, skin included! Prevents cell damage, supports immune function, is a must during collagen formation, and reduces an overall inflammation overall.
Vitamin K – is important for blood clotting. However this fat-soluble vitamin is important for bone formation, heart disease prevention and plays a huge role in many other bodily functions to keep our bodies humming well.

Spicy hot! 😮
Are they hot or sweet?I’ve never had them but, I’m always open to try something at least once. I just need to know if they’re sweet or hot so I can fully prepare myself…lol.
Rain,
These peppers are not intolerably hot!
Depending on where they were grown, they could be mildly hot to almost no-hot at all.
I cannot eat very spicy foods, but these I can!

Super love this! Whether eaten as a snack or incorporated into a main dish, crunchy, sweet shishito peppers are delicious and occasionally pack a punch—one in ten are superspicy!
We made these several times last summer and couldn’t wait to get fresh peppers again this year so we could prepare these again. I usually don’t like peppers, but even I thought these were great. We fixed them exactly as the recipe suggested and had ranch dressing handy for those who wanted it.
