Energy Food for Your Body
With raw ingredients and slightly sweetened by dates, these superfood bars are a true representation for energy food.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw almonds
- 8 dates, pits removed
- 1/4 cup dried cherries or cranberries
- 2 Tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes
- 1 Tbsp hemp seeds
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp toasted pumpkin seeds
- 1 Tbsp water
Instructions
- You can use any food processor to mix all ingredients.
- I use Nutri Ninja to do so.
- Line an 8 x 8-inch baking dish with plastic wrap. If you don't have this size – use any, just approximate 8x8 size for the mixture when spreading it out.
- Place all ingredients, except Pumpkin Sees and Water, into your food processor.
- Use Auto-IQ Boost Yes Fusion Mix if using Nutri Ninja.
- Add pumpkin seeds and water to the food processor. Mix again. Use Nutri Ninja Auto-iQ Boost Yes Fusion Chop regime.
- Press mixture firmly into the lined baking dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. I allow it to stay in the fridge overnight. The mixture is very pliable to cut.
- Cut mixture into squares and enjoy!
Notes
These bars can be stored in the fridge and even freezer! Dates, nuts and seeds and dried fruit inside mixed together – awesome ingredients to store in low temperatures.

I like the great things that they have to offer, but it doesn’t look as appealing. Maybe I should ease into this, but I’m currently looking for healthy snack options.

Amanda,
Try this recipe with the amounts for the ingredients as given. Then if you love it, double and triple the ingredients.
My kids go through them fast! I usually make 5 times the recipe amounts and freeze these cut-up squares. They are great out of the freezer, too!
Sound amazing!
This is a simple recipe that would be perfect to have during the busy work week. My husband is always hungry and his go-to snack is chips and salsa. I be these would keep his hunger at bay until dinner.
Katie,
If your hubby likes something on the sweet side – these bars would be very satisfying. You cannot eat a ton of them. They are filling and satisfying!

Jeanine,
This recipe has dates as the base for the other ingredients to be mixed into it. In a way, we can add more ingredients, if we wanted to.
Amazingly easy, quick and with a great shelf-life!

April,
Try this recipe, then take out or add something that your sone loves: like freeze dried berries, some other nuts. You’ll be enjoying the versatility this recipe can get.
I tend to snack a lot when I am on my computer and I have been looking at healthy snack options. I think your recipe is great because first, it is homemade, and second, it is packed with those yummy ingredients! I will whip up a batch and give my snacking habit a healthier twist!
Annemarie,
Yes, give these bars a try. Then add something you like: your choice of freeze dried berries or nuts. You won’t be able to eat a lot of them! I can eat a couple at a time, no more.
I make something like this.I really enjoy the no sugar taste. Most of the fruits already have a lot of sugars in them naturally!
These look super healthy and tasty. I love raw energy bars! I get some at the local bread place near me, but they are so expensive. I would love to attempt to make my own.
I admit, I’ve never tried raw food. I am a pretty picky eater and the thought makes me nervous lol. I’d like to try it though. I’m putting this in my recipe box. Thank you!
These sound so healthy. Bars like this are so expensive so I like to find recipes and make my own.
I’m going to show this to my daughter. We are both trying to live a healthier lifestyle and this reminds me of an expensive “bar” my daughter buys. I know this one is better for us because it doesn’t have preservatives. Looks delicious!
Alli,
This is a bar like some of the best bars out there! It stores well, as there’s nothing inside to get spoiled! Just nuts, seeds, dried berries.
These can stay in the fridge for quite some time. But mine get eaten in one or two days.
I would love to try something like this. I am trying to learn how to eat healthier for my body along with exercise. This looks great.
Jeanette,
Incorporate as much RAW into your daily diet as you can. Start with small, tiny steps. Get used to them, first.
Raw salads, fruit pieces – all that contribute to a healthier us.
Happy New Year to you!
How long do they last?
Katie,
They don’t last at all! Everything’s being eaten within a day or two.
On a serious note, I can keep them in plastic wrap in the fridge for 2 weeks easily.
There’s nothing inside to go bad – seeds and nuts and dates.
Yum! Healthy ingredients, do you buy the hemp seeds sprouted? I find they are so hard!
Karissa,
I usually use non-sprouted hemp seeds for all my meals and baking.
Sprouted ones are truly good for smoothies and some pasta-like dishes. Sprouted equals more nutrients!
These bars look absolutely incredible! They are full of antioxidants and superfoods. I can’t wait to try this recipe. I love making bars like this for a portable snack!
Jenn,
I find this recipe to be really friendly when it comes to taking it with you. Just use parchment paper to fold each piece into your container or even the pocket!
