The HookedOnLife Campaign has been designed to celebrate women of all walks of life with the core and focus of who they are. Each woman who participated in the campaign has her own life lived through joys and tribulations, difficulties and victories over circumstances, over themselves – life lived out from within expressing WHO THEY ARE.
Joy of Being Joy Okafo
Feel It With Your Gut And
You for Sure You’ll Be Hooked On Life!
Anyone Can Gather Ingredients. It’s How You Combine Them that makes you great! ~ Joy Okafo
The inspiration, a deep thought from all the personal encounters with all these women has been like unveiling a Huge Rainbow over my head – more light, more colors galore, more joy experienced when we allow all that abundance to take over us.
When we own our identity, we own our DREAMS. We reach out to our deep SELVES to offer yet another unexpected gift we can share with others and grow from it ourselves.
That’s how these amazing women in the FYSH UK Campaign come across – Sharing their individuality through expressing themselves, yet having that one thing in common —> each one of them is Hooked On Life!
With this in mind, let me unveil to you Joy Okafo, a dietician and physiologist who is one of the most humble people I’ve ever seen in my life.
Take a look into JOY while I’m asking her about her personal experience during the #HookedOnLife Campaign with FYSH UK. What do you think about this Woman?
Q: Why did you choose to participate in the Hooked On Life Campaign?
JOY –> It is a campaign that really celebrated us for who who we really are. The vibe on set was great because we were all ourselves. We all brought our own energy to the campaign and aside from being for a great product, it continues to celebrate diversity and women who are working on positivity.
Q: What did you gain during this campaign for yourself personally and/or your business?
JOY –> Personally, I gained quite a bit of confidence through the experience because it was one of the most authentic campaigns I’ve worked on. It was an empowering feeling to truly bring myself and to feed off other confident and positive women.
Business-wise, it was yet another great life experience that solidified that as women, we don’t need to change a thing – we can own our different stories and share them with the world.
Q: How what you do is different from what other people do?
JOY –> I feel privileged to meet many different people in my role as a Registered Dietitian because I get to learn from their stories. Talking about food is quite intimate and it spans across all aspects of life so my job is different in the sense that I am privy to some of the ‘innerworkings’. Food can relate to the best and worst of times for anyone and to be side-by-side with people through that is really unique.
Q: What Difference are you striving to make in people’s lives with your business?
JOY –> I really strive to work alongside people and help make some of life’s struggles a little bit easier.. through food. It never really is just about the food, there is a lot more attached to it. If I can help answer questions, support someone through a challenging situation, that’s what I aim to do. Let food be thy medicine!
Q: How does your personal sense of style, fashion affect you in feeling and acting it out during the day?
JOY –> With fashion I can have some fun throughout the day. If there is one area that I try not to take myself so seriously in, its with fashion. That means something different to everyone, and it changes all the time. But, it’s another way to express how I’m feeling. I show my quirky side, I can be serious, I can take it over the top! In a way, it can be liberating and is one way of having a silent conversation with the world around me: this is how I feel!
Q: What would you say to any woman who has her own business?
JOY –> Absolutely, without a doubt, go for it! If you have a vision or a dream for a business (or any idea) and it makes you feel food, follow that. I feel that in creating or building anything, there will always be people along the way that can help you out. You learn from their experiences and you can teach others that come after you.
At the end of the day, you are passionate about something and you can find a group of people that are on the same page, which is really the best part. The true success of any business will come from having that support and growing, which is as exciting as it gets.

Excellent idea and definitely feel the enthusiasm and joy. Food is medicine and we can use it in ways that are healing and energizing; especially live foods. Are you the lady in black pants in the shot? Great!

It’s so true, a positive attitude is the key. I have try to do projects that my heart wasn’t in it and it showed. Now I throw myself into my blogs and keep chugging along merrily. Very inspirational visit I had today!
Positive attitude is key when starting or running your own business. Although those days are now behind me-thank heavens I was always and will always be me. I have always lived by a Shakespearean quote “To thine own self be true and it must follow as the night the day thou canst not then be false to any man”.
Great article…. I believe that a positive attitude can change a life!

Thank you for helping people celebrate who they are,as well as how you work to support others though tough situations & most of all her encouragement for women to start their own business & find a group of people who are interested in the same thing so they can help each other out!!
I like what she said about following your gut. I think our instincts are often the way to go. I’ve found that most all of the women found it helpful and beneficial to surround yourself with other women who are positive and happy. I think that is such great advice. I’ve experience it myself. Surround yourself with creative people, you start to feel more creative, etc. I need to do this myself. It’s funny how positivity is contagious.
Jennifer,
Yes, positivity is contagious!
Yes, following your gut is an integral part of your success.
Yes, surround yourself with people who think and act positively, creatively.
