Beyond the Plan, Outside the Diet.
You are not going to find lasting weight loss in a program, bottle or pill. You know that, of course, but like all of us, you struggle knowing what else to do. Does that seem familiar?
Every diet will help you lose weight. Choose one. Go for it. But, brace yourself for the inevitable re-gain. It happens to all of us. Every program. Without fail. In fact, research shows that less than 1% of us keep the dieted weight off for over a year.
So, when I was approached by The UnDiet Project about a year ago to help them fine tune their approach, I was excited to see something totally different. Not a diet, the UnDiet begins with helping you work on your self…your self-respect, self image, your motivations, and the things that hold you back from keeping the weight off.

Your lasting solution to weight loss is not in a plan. It’s far outside a diet.
Here is part of one of the UnDiet’s daily Life Affirmations…

Every day The UnDiet Project sends you Daily Life Affirmations, among its MANY features. Here is a sample excerpt…
LIFE AFFIRMATION 5
Weaving the Tapestry of Life
Listen to what your life has been telling you. To discover it, write daily about your life in a journal. Reflect and write. Set aside time periodically to review what you have said. Set aside quiet time to read your entries.
Look for clues and patterns — identify sources of meaning, and type of activities that make your heart sing. Cultivate and practice gratitude. Acknowledge your accomplishments.
This is your life — a daily dip into the wonder of being alive. Savor the threads that weave the tapestry of who you have been…and who you are becoming.
See the story of your life written in front of you. Then actively create what it is you will become, step upon step, new thread upon new thread…weaving a new tapestry of life that unfolds beautifully within you.

Now the #undiet movement is something I could really get behind! I have to agree that sometimes our focus gets skewed and we loose sight of what’s actually important.
I think we could all use a little #Undiet in our lives! We focus on so many things throughout the day/year, and often times the most important things get neglected.
I prefer to focus on whole foods and cutting out processed foods.
I don’t diet anymore. What I do isw just cut back on my food intake.
This is great. I think changing your lifestyle is definitely the key to sustainable weight loss 🙂
I agree that dieting doesn’t seem to work. I think it’s more important to try and listen to your body to find out what it needs and then proceed from there.
I love this bcause people tend to view diets as temporary….I just have to eat this way until the weight comes off kind of thing, when you really have to analyze your life and realize it has to change permanently if you want to see permanent change, or you’ll always have the yo-yo affect. Love this!
Once we remove the word diet from our vocabulary then we can begin again. Lifestyle change is a great thing
I am totally into this approach! Thanks for sharing!
Dieting never works for me! I always struggle and by telling my mind that I can’t have something for some reason I want it more. This year it’s about working out and watching what I eat, not necessarily not eating it.
I like the idea of an undiet. It seems like the weight will stay off with permanent lifestyle changes.
I don’t do any specific diets. I just try to eat right and workout.
I don’t really diet but when I’m putting on a few pounds, I do try to back off of sweets. Sweets are my downfall, especially chocolate. Great tips and advice.
I don’t need to go on a diet but I do want to eat more healthily.
It’s better to plan meal and go out for exercise, it would be easier and healthier habit.
It’s better to plan your meals or at least look for healthier alternatives. Diet is never the answer.
Dieting never works. One must change habits for good to be healthy.
This is great idea, I think its about time to make my diet.
I act on a diet for a month. All I lost was 30 days. I try my best to stay healthy. I try to eat healthy and so much more. I love reading inspirational things and this seems very great idea.
I am not much for journaling nor did I keep a diary as a child. It is just not who I am. I do like to read inspirational posts and such and sometimes even take them to heart. This really does sound like a very well thought out program which will start people on a healthy way of thinking and of living their lives.
