Let’s talk facial mask today. Let’s face it, our skin is undergoing a daily bombardment from the outside elements. Be it weather conditions or a seasonal flu situation, our personal inattention to the daily needs of our largest organ or an accident that severely damages it, – the skin calls for daily appreciation of it. It doesn’t take a rocket science to figure out what your skin needs to make it smoother and more robust.
When Does Your Skin Crave A Different Daily Routine?
The very basic needs are always the same: Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize. Every step of this process can be significantly powered by using the products that are boosted with vitamins, minerals, enzymes and the actives addressing your skin’s condition.
The best part of your skin routine is that is can be done easily and within your budget when you approach skin care regiment with love, creativity and knowledge.
I’ve got interested in the skin subject when I was at high school and read up on every magazine and article I could get my hands on. No computers at that time to google anything I wanted to learn about. But with my genuine interest in the skin care subject, I remain an avid student of all things SKIN.
When is the Best Time to Use Oatmeal Face Mask?
As we are moving into the colder and dryer weather season, your daily and weekly skin care regiments call for a change. The focus now is on keeping your skin more hydrated. Quality skin care products and some amazingly affordable home masks could become your best friends.
Your emphasis in cold months of the year is on skin moisturizing.
Oatmeal is a humectant, which means it retains moisture. Using oats as part of the wholesome oatmeal face mask with other ingredients would create a nurturing environment for your skin cells to stay hydrated and well.
Restore and Improve are the two key words for using this oatmeal face mask in your regular routine. As you move into the Fall and Winter season, your skin will be more exposed to cold weather and dryness.
Skin accumulates more dead cells on its top layer under such dry, cold conditions. If you do not remove them timely, such layers will build up creating a dull and old-looking skin. You Do Not Want this happen! What’s to do?
Cleansing Skin During Dry and Cold Months of the Year
To get rid of the constantly building dead skin layers over the younger and healthier skin cells, skin cleansing is essential every day! A gentle face mask with floral, herbal and oatmeal ingredients would be welcome.
Once-a-week floral and oats facial mask promotes natural extraction and gentle exfoliation, giving your skin a natural and healthy turnover without drastic dehydration.

Moisturizing Skin During Dry and Cold Months of the Year
Your emphasis in your skin care daily routine is on creating a defensive barrier for your largest organ by focusing more on moisturizing! Creamier skin care formulas are more welcome this time of the year. If in the summer, you want a lighter skin moisturizer like a lotion, in colder months it would be more welcome to switch to thicker formulas.
What I am using on the regular basis is facial masks. Majority of them are home-made from the ingredients that are easily available. Sourcing organic where possible, I apply my personal research and experience to give my skin the best practice in care.
To improve your skin responsiveness to the actives (vitamins, minerals and alike), you need to give it an ample hydration base. That means drinking good water (I prefer spring water) during the day and giving your skin hydration opportunities via facial masks and skin care products.
Here’s one that will do several things for you and your precious skin.

You could experiment using either honey and/or yogurt as liquids of your choice in this recipe. I use both!
This is an awesome powder mixture for your facial mask.
Why This Oatmeal Face Mask Is Good for Your Skin
Using home-made skin care face mask can be a truly beautiful experience. You are in control what ingredients go into the beauty mask. In addition, you can easily adjust the mask formula to your skin’s needs as it calls due to seasonal changes or body changes.
Oats Benefits for Skin
We do need to use the skin-friendly ingredients found in our kitchen pantry! Why pay a ton of money for something we can create in no time at home? There are times we are looking for extra spa treatment and are willing to pay a price for that service. But most of the time, we can find affordable solutions to keep our skin hydrated, fed and glow with the most natural ingredients like oats, for example.
Raw oats contain saponins that have a strong propensity for cleansing. Adding ground oats to your skin cleansing routine once a day could be your “secret” to an ever glowing skin. You can add a drop or two of coconut oil to your oats and cleanse with this mixture.
How to Make Your Skin Smoother with Tips that Work!
The finely ground oats, sometimes called colloidal oatmeal, has been known for its protective properties when it comes to dry skin, eczema and itching. Be it dry winter weather or hot summer day, your skin will benefit from receiving a gentle cleanse containing oats. Skim the middle man and use raw oats for your skin care!
Glucans in oats penetrate the dermis and work within the lower layers of the epidermis to reduce wrinkles, fine lines, soften the texture of the skin
Micronutrients in oats are anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, and antioxidant. They improve skin hydration and elasticity.
Oatmeal is suitable for all skin types, and even for the most sensitive skin because of its anti- inflammatory properties.
How Lavender Benefits In A Skin Facial Mask
Lavender is an aromatic herb that has a multitude of uses at home. Skin care is one of them. I love lavender essential oil, and I do appreciate the dry lavender flowers. The dry lavender can be easily used in home-made skin masks, tea, and compresses. Our bodily systems benefit from the floral aromatherapy of essential oils and from the super anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties.
Lavender oil disinfects and detoxifies skin.
It enhances blood circulation, and
Lowers skin inflammation.
Using Anti-Inflammatory Lavender Essential Oil for Skin Irritations
When you get skin irritation from insect bites, acne itching, bacteria infection or from being too long in the sun, use lavender essential oil applications to the affected areas.
I take a small glass or ceramic bowl and put the cream or lotion amount necessary for my needs. Then, I add 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil. I incorporate it well with the cream and then apply it to my body or face. I have different lotions I use for my face and body. So it is two different bowls where I mix a lotion with an essential oil.
Makeup Tip for Skin Using Lavender Essential Oil
If you use foundation in your makeup routine, use your base cream mixed with lavender essential oil. It will do 2 things for you. First, it will create a smooth foundation for your makeup. Second, it will allow any irritated skin to heal at the same time while wearing makeup.
Prevent Wrinkles with Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender essential oil contains a variety of phytochemicals that fight free radicals by providing protection to the outside and inside pathogens. What it means for you is that this essential oil can be used in your anti-aging routine. Again, use your favorite face cream or lotion and add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil. Incorporate it well in a glass or ceramic bowl and apply all over face and neck.
For those of you who love showers and baths, use bath bombs and shower melting vapors to incorporate the aroma and antioxidants of the lavender essential oil into your skin cleansing routine. Pampering the skin with the proper cleanse, toning and feeding will give you that glowing look of health and joy everybody will be guessing about! But you know what really is at work – your time to take care of your skin every day.
Antiseptic and Anti-fungal properties of LAVENDER are essential for your skin.
Honey Benefits for Skin and Face Mask
I love to use MANUKA Honey, as it has so many anti-inflammatory properties.
This honey with unique New Zealand roots kills germs and bacteria on the skin surface.
Using Manuka internally and externally reduces inflammation and swelling. Every skin type needs it!
The micronutrients found in the Manuka honey moisturize and soothe skin cells creating a natural skin glow.

Yogurt Benefits for Skin
First, lactic acid soothes and softens dry and itchy skin.
Second, it moisturizes and rejuvenates skin every time you apply products with lactic acid. As a final result, you get tightened wrinkles, refined pores, and a more even skin surface.
Yogurt is one of the best moisturizers out there when we make facial masks. Have a few pieces of fruit to feed your skin from inside out! YUM all the way!

I’m so stoked to try this!!!
Brianna,
A small effort is all it takes to bring together all these ingredients and use them as a mask on your skin.
Once you start making this recipe regularly, watch your skin texture improve.
I am adding more ingredients to the base of this easy mask to accommodate my skin’s needs and the changing seasons.
I am not sure where I would get the lavender from, and I am afraid clay will be too harsh for my sensitive skin as I also have Rosacea BUT I am for SURE going to grind oatmeal and add some yogurt and manuka honey and try that. as I know that oatmeal is supposed to help soothe skin like mine so that sounds perfect for me.
I like that the yogurt and oatmeal is a GENTLE exfoliant too because any otc so called gentle exfoliants are much too harsh for me and I have only had good results with homemade ones and even some of those were too harsh but this one sounds ideal. I am looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing.
I could really use this after a hot and dry summer. Don’t feel as if I took very good care of my skin so this would be good.
This sounds like an amazing face mask! Oatmeal is so good for your skin, it is my favorite ingredient in lotion as well.
I have heard of oats in facial masks before, never tried though, sounds useful

They have pestles in the US. I thought it was a rural thing back at home. BTW I love face masks, I always feel immaculate whenever I use them. People usually ask me if I’m making a meal when I do. I just laugh.
Bel,
Yes, we do have and use pestles! he he!
I use them for my skin care needs and for different herbs when I use them in recipes. Really effective they are!
