Pauline is renowned for her desserts. She shares them every holiday and on every occasion. And she’s very creative with what she does. Everybody adores her amazing recipes.
When she visits with me, we mostly go for long walks and share our conversations at the cup of herbal tea.
My toddler likes Pauline and her desserts! Being at this age when behavior is sincere and genuine, he reluctantly gives my friend a hug.
The reason is simple. Pauline is a smoker.
No matter how hard she tries to mask her smoking habit, it just doesn’t happen. It will never happen. She really understands the problem. She tried to quit several times, but unsuccessfully. She really wants to make this habit to be in the past.
What I am doing the best I can is to support her on her quest to quit this miserable habit. Easier said than done.
Fairly recently, I started to educate myself on electronic cigarettes and how they are being an alternative to smoking regular tobacco cigarettes.
My discoveries about e-Cigarettes or e-Cigs, as they are being called by the industry insiders, have been an eye opening into the smoking world.
First off, the e-Cigarettes have been designed with the “quitting” in mind.
Second, e-Cigarettes are smokeless. No smoke, odor or smell are present! Only tiny, barely visible water vapors appear during the smoking process. That is why there’s yet another name for them – vapor cigarettes.
Third, the nicotine mixture inside these e-Cigarettes is free of over 4,000 chemicals that tobacco companies put inside regular tobacco cigarettes in addition to nicotine! Here you won’t find acetone, arsenic, formaldehyde or tar to name a few. People who are using e-cigs inhale just enough of pure nicotine to satisfy their cravings. I don’t say it’s healthy. I say it is a much better alternative to a tobacco cigarette.
What’s more important, e-cigarettes could be purchased with different level of nicotine in them. This option gives a smoker a transition period from full loaded cigarettes to very light levels of nicotine and eventually to zero.
What these and many more numerous facts about e-Cigarettes tell me is that they could be a much better alternative for a person who wants to quit smoking.
I’ve been sharing these finding with Pauline. We’ve been reading reviews at eCigarettes365.com. Pauline is on the verge of making her decision to switch from tobacco cigarettes to e-Cigarettes.
Don’t get me wrong. Smoking is poison to anybody’s body. But I would like to support my friend in her quest to quit smoking habit once and for all. It may take some time and some other than chewing gum alternatives to regular smoking.
I’ve done some research on different types of e-Cigarettes and found out that some are a bit more expensive and fancier than others. Some of the most reviewed are blu cigarette and SmokeTip brands.
In my opinion, it’s better to start transition to e-Cigarettes first. It gives a person a gradual withdrawal, rather than quitting “cold turkey.” In addition, the whole personal environment benefits. As there’s no smoke or smell produced by e-Cigarettes, there’s no lingering odor of any kind left with the person. It is such a huge factor!
I will be supporting Pauline in her quest to quit smoking. And e-Cigarettes would be a very helpful way to do so.
Eventually, I will be able to say that my best friend stinks with a totally different meaning. And the meaning being “she’s smart, she’s sharp, she’s knows her stuff.”
Do you have any similar situations in your life when you have a smoker in your immediate family or among your friends and colleagues? What do you do to support them on their way to quitting this habit?

I quit cold turkey 3.5 years ago. To me, thats the only way to do it. When I just cut down, I eventually just went back to my regular habits.
Sure, it sucks and I was miserable and I wasn’t happy but life isn’t always about being happy. I guess it doesn’t work for some people but sometimes you just have to…
I would love to try one. But they are so expensive to get started. Would be like trying a new brands of cigarettes til you find the right one…
would like to try these hope i can win 1
might be worth giving it a try
I have been a smoker for 35 years almost and would love to try something to qut as I will be 50 next week and it is past time to drop the habit for myself, my husband and kids an mostly for my 7 grandbabies.
My parents are smokers and so wasn’t my grandparents until recently when my grandmother was diagnosed with lung cancer. I would love to get my parents these. I know my children would love it if grammys and grandpa stopped smoking so they didn’t stink anymore…
really could use, having a hard time quittinf
I just quit smoking because of e-cigarettes. I feel so much better, like I’m full of energy and just generally happier. My skin looks a lot better too. My friend said I was glowing. Must be all the new found oxygen!
The e-cigarettes are the way to go to quit I think. It’s been a week and a half without a real cigarette and I feel fine. It’s not the same exact thing as smoking, but it’s so much better and I know I’m on my way to quitting all together soon.
Mary,
So happy for you, GRL!
It gives all those who are thinking about quitting a huge boost in motivation!
Congrats Mary Williams. So glad the ecigs are helping you and
here’s best wishes on getting to that final goal of not needing those
either.
I hope I can have the same results from the ecigs as well.
Best of luck to you
I’m a smoker and really need to quit, have tried so many different things, but not the E-cigarettes. will have to check them out, I want to quit and it is one of the hardest things for me to do. I’m glad Pauline has a great friend like you for support. I’m sure that would be helpful
Good for you! I have a friend who switched to it and seems happy so far. My step-dad recently died who was a lifetime smoker. We tried to get him to stop and helped in every way, but you have to be ready. My husband quit 8 years ago and has never looked back. He now chews sugar free gum when he is stressed, etc… when he would usually reach for a cigarette.
My dad has been using e-cigarettes for over a year now and he feels much better, unlike before when he’s complaining about his smoker’s cough.
I hope she can quit. She’ll feel so much better and she should think of all the money she’ll save not buying cigarettes!
I have tried an electronic cigarette. I wont mention the brand. It wasn’t bad. Def the way to go to not be stinky, save money and not be as bad to your health. Maybe I’ve talked myself into to buying another lol!
If everyone had support like she has- they could all quit! You are doing a great thing for her!
My kids have the same reaction to the smell of cigarette smoke on clothing. They are not used to it and shy away from folks that smoke. I have never been a smoker, but I would pass this info onto a friend trying to quit. Thanks for sharing.
I am a smoker–really should quit–I did buy one of the e-cigs but then never used it–maybe I should try again! One thing is for certain-Baby my cat hates the smell of cigs–when I light up-she goes squint y eyed and walks away!!
Michele,
It’s tough to quit any habit! What I am learning from these e-Cigs that there’s a very good chance in doing so.
Being a non-smoker for all my life, I really would love my friend to quit. And that is why I am putting my effort in finding a solution that may work for her this time.
Thank you for your personal sharing and your little kitty!
