The very moment you step on any of the Disney parks, studios, attractions – you find yourself enveloped in Magic this company has been conceived with and delivering entertainment and fun to its guests and fans. Walt Disney and his followers can be truly called Dreamers.
These are the people who constantly work on creating and reinventing the magic onto movies, music, and park destinations. I was lucky to meet some of such dreamers during my last press trip to Disney studios and Disneyland.
We had a magical atmosphere to meet and greet those people and learn about what they do and how they do it.
Every day of their lives, creative souls like Charita Carter and Mike Goslin are working on building a better and bigger Disney experience ever!
And with Disney Diamond Anniversary Celebrations this year, you gotta add some Disney Magic into your life!
Charita Carter, Producer at Disney Imagineering
During our conversation at the literally round table, Charita shared her passion for her work at Disney Studios. The best part of her job, she said, is doing things for the first time. She thrives on challenges and on the unknown.
Her main job is to bring new technologies of the modern world into the Disney world. Obviously we do not see exact copies of the tech stuff in Disney movies and feature films. What Charita and her team do is figure out the usages of such technologies and new achievements as it pertains to Disney projects.
You would be surprised how much it is! There is a special person who leads the research and investigation of the new happenings for each of many fields and Disney tracks: Theatrical world, Material science, Space, Chemistry and many other areas. Such team of Disney Dreamers works closely with each other, reporting all the findings and what they can do with them to keep Disney movies and characters realistic, yet with visionary outline.
One of the things they do in this department of imagineering is to invite children to play with new techy stuff that is being ready for many Disney projects. Kids are the best to test things out and figure out new uses of things.
Charita Carter emphasized the importance of exposing to new technologies boys and girls equally. Without downplaying a role of science, mothers could be a powerful support and inspiration for the children to pursue new worlds with science and new discoveries.
And for inspiration, Charita turns to music, to nature, to the situations where she can unplug and just be. Little did we know that she herself is a celebrity in her own kind! Charita is a professional commercial hand model! She was discovered accidently. And since then, Charita did quite a few ads featuring her beautiful hands. One of the ads is the Superbowl commercial for Sony speakers. And yes, she is the one whose hands we see in the picker-upper paper towel ads, too.
Mike Goslin, VP of Production & Content
Disney Consumer Products
Mike Goslin is the person who currently is working on the recently announced Playmation project. Playmation is the next step in the evolution of physical play, where a player interacts with her/his physical movements from outside with the digital content. Sounds surreal, but it is already happening. Disney is taking a lead in developing the content for such interaction.
Mike shared with us that to successfully develop a commercial physical interaction with the content, they must know and research a ton of things in different areas: Technology, Art, Psychology. And what stays in focus – like anything that Disney does – is Story Telling.
With a story, a new product can make it or break it. Disney does an extensive research on everything they do! Weaving reality we are familiar with into a story is a Disney way to keep us captivated and come back again and again.
Mike’s message to the kids who want to become animators and illustrators is to focus on the many subjects of life and allow their curiosity lead the way. Parents can foster habits and inquisitive minds and guide them to pursue their dreams as the children are growing up and making choices in their future careers.
Disney is the company that Dreams. Everybody who works at Disney is a dreamer. To work in an environment that is supercharged with dreamers is the ultimate experience for any human being!
Mike Goslin revealed to us that the first installment of Playmation will be coming to stores before Christmas 2015. Watch it in the ads! First comes Iron Man and Hulk. Then all the superheros will follow step-by-step.
And, yes, we did take a group photo with these Disney Dreamers at the end of our Press Conference!
The meeting hall at the Disneyland Park is magical! Here are a few shots I took to commit it all – in one short breath – to memory and warmest feelings.

I totally love that the magic lives on in various Disney creators and innovators!
I love all things behind the scenes with Disney. I just think Walt Disney was so revolutionary for his time and he really saw the magic in childhood. I’m sure he would be proud today to see where his dream has developed and been taken.
