I was hit hard and almost instantaneously with my internet being out for one full week and then my hard drive crash.
It took Comcast one week to figure out what was wrong (the service was horrible, to say the least, for which they charged me. But then credited it back only After I called.)
It took almost three weeks in addition to the one without Internet for my Mac to be repaired, as extra parts had to be shipped from somewhere else.
During this time of “no computing” in a normal way, I was using my iPad. Though I could not do my elaborate designs and cute event buttons and image trimming on my iPad, this little device was a life savior for me. Literally.
This is the post I dedicate to all people who created iPad, and thanking Steve Jobs every day of my life for his creative mind and inspiration for such devices like iPad and the whole family of devices that starts with this magical letter “i.”
Reason 1 For My Love for iPad – Mobility
Being left without internet for a week, I had to use Wi-Fi spots like Starbucks to work on a gazillion of projects that were flashing with read light into my face “Due Today!” Grabbing my cute iPad in its blue Snugg stylish case, I would head over to my local Starbucks or Barnes & Noble’s several times a day to fulfill my deadlines.
Reason 2 For My Love for iPad – The Battery Charge Holds All-Day-Long
What I’ve experienced with my iPad while being in this critical situation is that its battery is a long lasting one. With all the hours spent working on my projects out of the iPad, I had to charge it only overnight. That’s all. Still, the battery at the end of the day would allow me to work for many more hours. I truly appreciated it while working out of home and didn’t have to worry about charging any batteries.
Reason 3 For My Love for iPad – The Ease Of Networking
Being dependent on my huge social network that “dwells” in multitudes on various social platforms like Facebook, Google, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, I was able to keep connected and get communication and project details figured out even without my huge Mac. Yes, it was challenging to deal with any instances when it came down to image alteration and edits. But other elements like copy writing and communicating all parts of my projects was seamless.
Reason 4 For My Love for iPad –The Bliss Of Interconnection
What I mean by Interconnection is how easy it is to edit, copy and jump from one document to a different source of writing and working on the data, like email, notes, Pages and Numbers, the back of the online store, WordPress admin side and so much more. Just a couple of years ago, this wouldn’t be possible. Now, I can do almost everything I need from my nifty device called iPad.
Reason 5 For My Love for iPad – Because It Didn’t Quit On Me
No, my iPad did not quit on me when I needed it the most. For almost a month, I was running my business out of my iPad and iPhone. And these two devices really made life so possible. When it comes to deadlines, I want to keep them and deliver the final product as it was promised. So, for that I am endlessly thankful to my my iPad and the whole team at Apple who has been fine tuning and upgrading the capabilities of these smart devices non-stop.
At the end, such critical situations like this one – being without the computer for an extended period of time – display in their full colors what technology can and cannot do; whether it was worth it investing into all these devices or not. In my case, it was all totally worth every penny of it.
And yes, this post has been written out of my own will without being asked by anybody else. Inside, I just feel so thankful, so grateful for having a very positive experience with my electronic and techy gizmos during the crisis like it was.
What is your experience with any of your smart technologies you carry around? Have you ever felt thankful for having them in your life?
