VaseOff! Challenge Calls Your Name

Who doesn’t love flowers? Flowers follow us everywhere and accompany our most important events like weddings, anniversaries, inaugurals, birthdays, hello’s and good-bye’s. And sometimes, pretty florals are sitting quietly on window seals brightening our blues and days.

VaseOff ChallengeHowever today I am bringing to you a fun and beautiful challenge. Very simple. Yet, very rewarding – VaseOff! Challenge.

What is a VaseOff!Challenge? It is a project runway-style competition where expert florists compete for the best flower arrangement. Here are just a few examples how extraordinary these floral designs can be.

For the last VaseOff! contest, the designers were challenged to revive the Roaring “20s by creating flower compositions inpsired by the Great Gatsby.

VaseOff! Challenge – Wedding Bouquets Inspired by the Great Gatsby

In July of this year, the theme of the VaseOff! Challenge will be Gift Giving.

And this is where you, my dear readers come in. YOU will decide on what would make a fabulous, creative and compelling  July floral challenge, based on a gift-giving theme.

What should we have our designers create?

• A hostess gift for a specific summer theme party?

• Recognition for a friend or a relative who has reached their major milestone?

• A thank-you for your favorite neighbor?

• A welcome gift bouquet for someone returning from a long and enduring mission?

• A fantasy bouquet that could be given to anybody who inspired you?

Help us to brainstorm these ideas! Please.

As a Thank-you, Celebrate Woman Today will give a $50 AmEx card to one person with the most creative proposed idea.

Please leave your comments with your creative thoughts below. If you have more than one idea – don’t be bashful, enter twice or as many times as your creativity allows you. Just make a separate comment. Again, it is your creativity that shall bring you the prize!

Let’s see what we can think of this time around!

All comments are due by June 1, 2012. I’ll pick the winner on the same day. Please make sure you leave your email in the comments, so I could contact you without delay.

Please Retweet, and Thank You!

The 4th of July is a significant holiday in July. I think a welcome gift bouquet for someone returning from a military tour is a wonderful and inspirational gift. There are men and women alike who love flowers and I think they deserve a gift for the protection, freedom and service they provide for our country!

  6. Having a husband in the military who has been serving overseas for the past 3 years (i have seen him maybe 10 months combined over the last 3 years but will finally get to reunite with him in 5 months!! ) i would say that the bouquet should be designed as A welcome gift bouquet for someone returning from a long and enduring mission. Both the wives and the soldiers endure great trials and hardship when separated and i would love to see a welcome home bouquet designed around that!

  7. Angela L says:

Since it’s in July, I think they should have to do something for Independence Day.

A bouquet that says, “You have made my summer special”, whether it’s a person who is in one’s life just for a fleeting summer’s day, or someone who remains. Could be a hostess who has treated you exceptionally well. Could be a boss who has made working through the summer days bearable. Could be a son or daughter! Could even be the lifeguard at the beach!

  13. Mami2jcn says:

July is National Blueberry Month so how about a blueberry-inspired bouquet?

  20. Mami2jcn says:

Oooh another one…the Olympics in London start in July: an Olympic or sports themed bouquet!

The Amazing Spider-Man premieres July 3rd so how about a Peter Parker themed bouquet?

Another summer movie release coming up is Snow White and the Huntsman. A Snow White themed bouquet would be cute, especially with the popularity of Snow White lately (there was that other Snow White movie, Mirror Mirror).

  37. Mami2jcn says:

Rock of Ages is yet another 2012 summer movie. How about a Rock n Roll themed bouquet?

  38. Mami2jcn says:

    How about a Hawaiian/Polynesian theme?

  39. My allergies go CRAZY in the summer. How about something with hypoallergenic flowers? LOL!

Speaking of allergies, there are so many gorgeous wildflowers growing in the summer time. What about something that is kind of different for each region, and reflects the wildflowers that are growing in that area? It would be kind of cool to do that, and then, like, if someone was far from their home (overseas maybe?) you’d be able to send them a gorgeous arrangement that has the sights and smells of home. It would also be awesome for outdoor weddings, because it would look so much more natural than things that don’t grow naturally in that area!

  40. Heather says:

an arrangement for teachers. Would love to have something to give to teachers, instead of the “apples” theme ;-)
